MOVIE REVIEW (LADY J)
Hey y'all fam, Have been meaning to give a review of this Netflix original film called lady J, it's a French film. It's a Netflix film that was directed by Emmanuel Mouret, it's also a period piece, for those of us who are into period pieces I'd recommend you check this movie out.
The movie starts out by showing us a french lady in France of 1789, she is a young widow who doesn't believe in love and thinks Married life is not for her, she only believes in friendship and that friendship never go sour when you don't mix it with things of the flesh, this doesn't deter the marquis de Arcis who's been trying to court lady pommery and he decides to stay in her estate until she accepts to be his,the Marquis who is already a well-known womanizer stays in the wealthy widows estate for as long as three months to prove to lady Pommerage that indeed his feelings are genuine.
The role of lady pommerage was played by Cecile de France who's an absolutely amazing actress in this film, eventually In the film she finally falls in love with the marquis,it's shown to us in the movie that they have great chemistry with the number of years they spent together inspite of the fact that the marquis is a well known womanizer.
As time goes on lady pommerage want to settle down but he isn't even thinking in that direction as it seems that he's now finally becoming bored with the relationship so lady pommerage then suggests they become friends just to see if he'd agree or still want to continue with the relationship and he immediately agrees with her that they remain good friends, she gets angered by this and she decides she wants to get back at him,the wealthy widow then concocts a scheme with a former courtesan and her daughter to help her get her revenge.

The Story takes you on some twists and turns as the marquis is been taking for a ride, he tries his best to woo the courtesans daughter, from getting expensive jewelries to offering the courtesan and her daughter financial assistance but they kept refusing the gifts on the instructions of the wealthy widow who employed them to help her get back at the marquis, this goes on for a long time, eventually the marquis who's isn't a believer of marriage, finally proposes marriage to the courtesans daughter, the movie just take your emotions on a roller coaster as you what you'll have on your mind all through is, "what next?" And gradually as time goes on it gets darker and balances emotional moments, honestly, I really enjoyed this film along with the performances are the great chemistry's between the cast, The Charisma that lady pommerage brings to this film just made it the more enjoyable, She's absolutely fantastic, I love her, I loved every moment she was on the screen, no doubts her and the marquis had some great chemistry and really sell their scenes together. honestly, I'm just surprised I actually came to like the movie.
I enjoyed it quite a bit, honestly it's like I feel like watching it again right now, I just kept enjoying the dialogues and the interactions between these characters, it really builds a lot and I was just sitting there for an hour and 50 minutes, really enjoying their interactions and where the story is going and really thinking about what's going to happen next. it's a fun film and when it Does get a little less fun, it's still engaging and interesting,
Honestly, I'd recommend this. If you're really not in to period pieces this probably won't be the film for you, but for those of us who enjoy them I would highly recommend. Go check out lady J on Netflix and Let me know what you think?
