Fresh, sweet, and, smooth pudding to enjoy the hot day.

Living in Indonesia, every day feels like summertime. The fact is that we've had temperatures over 30 degrees recently, even though it rained for a while.

With my gardening activities, it make me even more busy and feel more tiring. So, we need more treats from fresh fruits to make us more enthusiastic and also fill our energy.

Papaya fruit is a delicious choice for healthy snacks. Apart from being naturally sweet, papaya is also good for the digestive system to prevent constipation. Also, as a bonus, we can increase our chances of having bright and healthy skin.

I have a supply of medium-sized papaya. Today you have to finish it, or tomorrow it will be overripe and no longer delicious to eat.

I also have a supply of coconut milk and “agar powder”. Suddenly my husband gave me the suggestion to make papaya pudding combined with coconut milk pudding.

That's a great idea. My husband really likes papaya, he also likes the pudding menu from "agar powder" and coconut milk.

So, without thinking twice, I got ready to make this pudding. I cooked this pudding before lunch after I finished the big work in my garden today. Later, this pudding can be enjoyed as dessert after lunch, as well as for snacks in the evening.

The Ingredients

2438829E-0C5F-4F15-9037-5FCF6CB0F644.jpeg

  • 1 medium sized papaya
  • 900 ml of thin coconut milk
  • 1/3 cup of sugar

Cooking Instructions

STEP 1

647CF947-9891-4556-87AC-57D3937F0BC5.jpeg

Prepare a cooking pot. But don't turn on the fire yet. Add coconut milk, sugar, also “agar powder”.

431F662C-2D3B-4B2F-93B6-4ADAE7325B8F.jpeg

Stir well until you no longer see "agar powder", also the sugar can be seen dissolved in the coconut milk. The important thing is to make sure the coconut milk used is not thick. If you use canned coconut milk, then add more water to thin the texture of the coconut milk.

STEP 2

2CA812C2-3BF3-4F1F-9082-C9E1DFF1777E.jpeg

Turn on the fire. Just a small fire, then cook the "agar powder" mixture until it boils. But, keep stirring continuously so that the pudding mixture doesn't burn, especially at the bottom of the pan.

Waiting for the pudding to cool, prepare the papaya fruit. First, wash the papaya. Then, dry it. After that, cut the top of the papaya a little.

You will see a small hole in the middle of the papaya after we cut the top of the papaya. Then, use a spoon to remove the papaya seeds. Be careful to remove all the papaya seeds.

To clean the entire inside of the papaya from small seeds, rinse it with drinking water.

STEP 4

Stir the cooked pudding mixture until the hot steam reduces. Then, transfer it to a glass that has a pointed mouth to make it easier to put the pudding mixture into the inside of the papaya.

Pour the pudding mixture into the papaya carefully, until it is full.

Then, if there is any remaining pudding mixture, pour it into a bowl, glass or pudding mold.

Let them set. You can put it in the refrigerator. But since I don't have a refrigerator, so I just let them set at room temperature.

Carefully cut the papaya after the pudding mixture has set. After the papaya is split into two parts, then cut it again into pieces according to taste.

I love the results. I didn't expect that the result of this papaya pudding would be so many pieces. Instead of spending it alone with my husband, I shared pieces of this delicious pudding with my neighbors and cousins.

If you have no agar powder, you can replace with jelly ingredients to make them set in textuere :)

Awesome recipe for papaya~coconut pudding! ;) looks really beautiful and yum!
Also very neat of you & your husband to share it with others! ;)

Papaya is probably my most favorite fruit, although only once had the chance to taste really ripe papaya in Madrid, Spain...
Here in Bulgaria I haven't someone to offer good sized fruit on any market...
So if you call your middle sized... ours here are three times smaller and always green :) It will be a luck if it manages to ripen a bit turn some yellowish :)
