Gardening Works (17 Feb 2024: Fixing The Soil Texture and More)

Hot, and rainy. Both seasons can be high intensity and even come on the same day. Sometimes it doesn't rain at all and we just feel excessive heat.

The lands are drying up. We look forward to the beautiful rain that brings peace. Also, it cools the broken soil into comfortable soil for growing plants.

In my area, we experience many challenges in gardening but at the same time it is fun if done with love and passion. If high intensity rain comes, it will cause the raising beds to become flooded. On the other hand, raising beds will become very dry if the heat is high intensity.

As you can see in the garden next to my house. This is the condition before sunset. Before I do watering. The soil in my garden looks very dry and cracked. Luckily, my plants didn't look wilted. They seem to be strong enough to withstand hot weather. Tropical plants.

Well, at gardening works this afternoon, I will focus on improving the soil texture. Also, watering. The afternoon time is not that long and it will be dark. So, I focus on work that doesn't take up much time.

Watering

The main focus of gardening works today is to improve the soil texture in a raising bed. But I'll do some watering first.

I say positive words to all my plants while watering them. I said they were great and they grew beautifully.

The baby cucumber plants look cute. I smiled photographing those baby cucumber plants. Gardening is so fun! We will have many unexpected moments. Various plants have their own characteristics, especially in the initial phase of growth, which amaze us.

Fixing The Soil Texture

After finishing watering, I brought two packages onto a raising bed. I will improve the soil textures.

I haven't planted one raising bed yet. The soil texture looks terrible. Meanwhile, in the other beds I have improved their texture with organic compost. You can see for yourself that the soil in this raising bed looks very hard and dry.

I have bought a sack of black soil, as well as a package of roasted husks. I will mix them 1:1.

For the first step, I have to mix the soil with roasted husks in a big bucket.

Two different particles but they will be great if combined. That's the power of good collaboration. :)

Then, I hoeed the surface of the soil on the raising bed first before I covered it with the new soil mixture.

Then, spread them all out on the raising bed. The plan is, that I will mix the mixture once again when it's time to plant it. Currently, I am also waiting for the order for seeds to come to my house.

The results of my gardening works today are not bad and I have sweated. It's really fun doing this activity. I will continue to clean the grass the next day.

Raised beds that are prepped well, really is the best way to plant veggies and other crops as well. I hope your seeds arrive soon, and that you have good rainfall @anggreklestari!

I was surprised to see that you not only make tasty and appetizing dishes with vegetables, you also have your own little garden and that you take care of it and cultivate it yourself. I congratulate you. A weekend full of work but you shared your experience with us. Thank you, I admire you.🥒🥦🥕🤗

We have a farm and I find it wastes because we can't grow many vegetables there because of insects in the soil.. Only fruit trees... I guess it's a good idea to cover it with new soil . But sure will cost a lot

When we never get used the soil, the soil became non productive because microorganisme just die.
So for starting again, indeed so much work. I use organic pesticide like garlic, red onion skin, also tea powder to against insects

Big work but we know ITS decant especially when we get older, enough get bored to the city, then have green space next to home is absolutely adoreable 😊❤️

Organic matter is an excellent soil improver. I look forward to hearing from you about what you will plant there in that wide bed. Big hugs!.

I used to grow vegetables on my garden 5 years ago... These included lettuce 🥬 okra and tomatoes 🍅. We didn't run out of those at home. Now we have bananas there... I am thinking of going back to vegetable gardening
