Jardinería Urbana

La jardinería es una hermosa actividad que puede llenar a quien la práctica de grandes beneficios. En publicaciones anteriores he compartido algunos de los beneficios de sembrar en casa, en la selva de cemento, porque siempre he pensado que podemos valernos de cualquier medio para dar vida a una planta y cuidarla en casa. Para esta oportunidad les compartiré una experiencia que tuve con los vecinos de sembrar una planta de cambur en el brocal de la calle de la urbanización en la cual estoy viviendo.

En este urbanismo, no existen grandes extensiones de zonas verdes, por lo que hemos decidido hacer una prueba de utilizar los brocales de las aceras para sembrar algunas plantas que no requieran de mucho espacio para su crecimiento, es así como llevamos a cabo este experimento, que desde mi punto de vista va muy bien y progresando.

Urban Gardening

Gardening is a beautiful activity that can fill those who practice it with great benefits. In previous posts I have shared some of the benefits of planting at home, in the concrete jungle, because I have always thought that we can use any means to give life to a plant and take care of it at home. For this opportunity I will share with you an experience I had with the neighbors of planting a banana plant on the curb of the street of the urbanization in which I am living.

In this urban planning, there are no large extensions of green areas, so we have decided to test using the curbstones of the sidewalks to plant some plants that do not require much space for their growth, this is how we carry out this experiment, which from my point of view is going very well and progressing.

El cambur es una fruta muy común en mi país y requiere poca agua. Actualmente, nos encontramos atravesando una ola tropical bastante fuerte y el exceso de agua ha traído algunas buenas, pero también malas experiencias con las plantas, si bien el agua de lluvia es maravillosa para darle vida a las plantas, el exceso puede causar que se pudra la raíz de la planta y luego tienda a morir. Por ahora, puedo decir que el cambur se ha mantenido, aunque hemos tenido que reforzar a la planta con algunas cuerdas porque el peso del racimo está haciendo que se incline hacia la carretera.

Esta actividad de sembrar en los jardines, trajo consigo que otros vecinos se entusiasmaran y sembraran otras plantas, algunos siembran girasoles para luego poder tomar la semilla y ponerla a tostar para su consumo. Otros siembran plantas medicinales para elaborar infusiones y calmar cualquier tipo de padecimiento, como gripe, dolor de cabeza, gases, entre otros.

The banana is a very common fruit in my country and requires little water. We are currently going through a fairly strong tropical wave and excess water has brought some good but also bad experiences with plants, while rainwater is wonderful for bringing plants to life, excess water can cause rot the root of the plant and then tend to die. For now, I can say that the banana has been maintained, although we have had to reinforce the plant with some ropes because the weight of the bunch is causing it to lean towards the road.

This activity of planting in the gardens brought with it that other neighbors became enthusiastic and planted other plants, some plant sunflowers to later be able to take the seed and roast it for consumption. Others sow medicinal plants to make infusions and calm any type of illness, such as flu, headache, gas, among others.

Esta cosecha tiene alrededor de 5 meses y previo a esta carga de cambures ya había nacido una, de donde se tomó el hijo de la planta para hacer esta siempre que hoy les comparto. Todos estamos emocionados esperando poder comer de esta cosecha de cambur. También puedo agregar que esta cosecha ha sido tratada con fertilizante natural a base de lombrices de tierra.

Los niños han resultado ser los más curiosos y hemos tenido que educarlos para que cuiden y respeten a las plantas para que no maltraten el fruto. Ha sido un trabajo hecho, con mucho cariño, donde todos hemos aprendido sobre las oportunidades que tenemos como comunidad de darle otro uso a nuestros brocales, ya que, no tenemos mucho espacio para sembrar.

This harvest is about 5 months old and prior to this load of bananas, one had already been born, from where the son of the plant was taken to make this whenever I share with you today. We are all excited waiting to eat from this harvest of bananas. I can also add that this crop has been treated with natural fertilizer based on earthworms.

The children have turned out to be the most curious and we have had to educate them to take care of and respect the plants so that they do not mistreat the fruit. It has been a job done, with much love, where we have all learned about the opportunities we have as a community to give our curbs another use, since we do not have much space to plant.
