Our last big harvest
A few days ago, we did our last big harvest from our garden and it was a special one. We were gifted these kalo varieties a few years ago and have been blessed by their presence ever since.
Nestled up against our stairwell, every day we walked up the steps to our front door, we were reminded where we live.
We are honored to have been living on this land and are very thankful for all its lessons, gifts, and daily reminders of our morals and beliefs.
Yesterday I spent the day connecting with some incredible local people, talking story, and saying goodbye as we passed our huli off.
This sacred native variety is meant to be in the hands of Hawaiians and I am so thankful I was able to care for and be a part of one of the deepest connections created on this land.
This Uahiapele kalo variety translates to “the smoke of Pele.” It is no coincidence that as I give these huli to the local community.
Thank You God for your blessings...
