Karaoke Bliss.
Two weeks ago, I got a call from Sade inviting me over for a karaoke date.
I have always been a die-hard fan of good music, and I never fail to sing along to it whenever I can.
While I was goofing around one weekend, I made a cover of the latest song by a popular artist in my country and sent it to Sade, a fellow lover of music and an old friend as old as wine.
"Wow, baby girl, this is amazing!" Her response to the video after watching it made my evening, and then we began to chit-chat about other places we would visit since we had made our girls hang-out a monthly ritual ever since 2021.
"Suggest, please," I responded after so much thought that I couldn't find a perfect place for another hang-out.
"How about a Karaoke date? Since we are both music lovers, it's just a perfect hang-out. As soon as her reply popped up on my WhatsApp, I began to dance around because I knew I would be having the time of my life. "Yes!!! That's a perfect place for the hang-out; are we going to twin to the lounge?" I jokingly teased, as I and Sade love to do so many things in common, and our fashion statement wasn't left out.
"Aye, perfect!" She responded yet again with the laughing emoji, "Typing is getting boring; get on the phone; let's FaceTime." Her text hit again.
Before I knew it, her video call began to pop up on my screen. "So are we doing a dress, boyfriend jeans, or...?" I interrupted her before she could finish. "A sequin dress, please!!! You know the effect the glitters and shimmers will have while the light shines so brightly in the lounge?" I gave her my goofy smile yet again. "Aye, we're going to shine bright like a diamond." Sade was just a whole vibe, and the supposed call for an outfit suggestion became a mini-karaoke night for both of us again.
We began to sing to each other, and it was all fun. "Babe, I can't wait, so when are we going?" My question brought my beautiful friend back to reality, as she had closed her eyes for minutes while singing.
"Next week Friday," Sade responded with a beautiful smile, "would you make me a simple sequin dress?" She politely requested, but it was too late since I had a lot of projects at that time, so I politely told her it wasn't going to be possible.
"No problem then; I'll make do with the one I have; after all, the goal is to hang-out with you and have some fun." Her considerate response made my night yet again: "Yes, baby, have a good night's rest." I ended the call right after my response.
I began to daydream about Friday and all the fun I would be having. Before I knew it, Friday arrived.
Sade called me a few hours before our hang-out time to ensure the hang-out would still hold, and I responded in the affirmative.
At 5 pm, we left our homes and met up halfway, and then we headed to the lounge. By 7 pm, we were already at the lounge for our karaoke session, and she requested some of her favourite music from the disc jockey. I sat down to watch her while she sang her lungs out. I was like her hype lady, and that was so memorable.
When it got my turn, I began to contemplate what song to sing along to, even though I had a million and one songs I have always enjoyed listening to, and then Sade suggested we do a duet to Senoita by Shawn Medes ft. Camila Cabello and that was just a perfect suggestion.
I walked slowly to meet her on the stage. We shared the microphone as we both began to sing together, "Amazing! Beautiful duo." I heard the audience cheering us on, and that made us feel very happy.
We did have the best time of our lives, and I wish we could have more karaoke dates than our regular beach hang-out.

Girls hang-out is always interesting and fun. Even though I haven't attended one, I still would love to witness it someday. I'd planned on this for my birthday this year but got ruined due to my Nysc service.
I guess you both had so much fun singing at the karaoke date.
I hope you will be able to replan this karaoke date with your friends. Thanks for stopping by.
Yes, someday, it would happen. Thank you.
I popped in here through #dreemport
Thanks for stopping by.
It's better to hangout with friends most especially this type you have embarked on. I have done this before and would stu love to do it again.
You are right, thank you for stopping by.
I bet you really had a whole lot of fun with your friend. Girls hangout are the best especially when you have the same taste in almost everything.
Yeah I did, thanks for visiting.
This is what I call enjoyment unlimited. Sade is a fun person and has nice ideas.
Yeah right, she's a fun person to be with, thank you so much for visiting.
You're welcome
You describe your relationship with Sade well. It's the kind of friendship most of us hope to have--easy-going and trusting. Your conversation (dialog) is good. You have a vibe in the story that is pleasant to share. While you do explain the way the music adventure evolved, there really isn't a strong arc. Certainly there is no conflict, unless the little bit about how to dress is considered.
Nonetheless, reading this was a pleasant experience. You make karaoke sound like fun.
Thank you for sharing this music experience with us, @amiegeoffrey
Thanks for having me.
Hanging out with someone you both share same interest with is truly a delight. This made me miss my girls hangout sad we can't do that again since they all left the country. In all it was a pleasant read and thank you for sharing.
