EMBRACE YOURSELF: SELF LOVE

I have this cousin of mine Chisom that is always feeling so insecure and ashamed of her body. She is on the chubby side and among her age mates it seem she was the fatest. This left a mark on her self esteem as she started pulling away from others.

My sister Thess is on the slim side on the other hand which didn't go down with her. She watched her mates with lots of fresh flunt their body and some even taunt her for being too slim. She became so obsessed with adding some flesh on her body that she made it a prayer point.

I called her for a one on one discussion and there i lectured her on the importantance of self love.

If you don't love and value yourself how then do you expect people to love you?
Clearly you cannot give what you don't have

I let her understand that many have been drinking lots of slimming tea, on drugs and some are even undergoing surgery so they can achieve her type of body.

She was very happy and promised not to e her bother her sweet soul ever again. Since then she have been rocking her body and making the most opportunities out of it.

The media feeds us on regular basis on how our body should look like making those that didn't fit into that type of body to fill less of who they are. What many of them didn't know is that they are only after selling their products and cares less about you. It's all for the money and have always been about the money. As for my cousin sister, I called her to constantly remind her that she is very beautiful. She laughs each time I mention how gorgeous her skin and her body shape is.

BODY SHAMING
My mentor told me the story of how three of her aunties told her ten years ago that she would not be able to get married because of her weight. Today she is married with three beautiful children.

According to her she never let their body shaming to affect her or weigh her down.

But enough of the body shaming already

What do people gain from talking down on each other?.

Let us all embrace self love , no one can give you the type of love that you will not give to yourself first.
