Prehistoric pile buildings
The best way to start the new year is with a walk around the lake. Actually, the Hallwilersee is a walking lake with 22 kilometers if one rounds the Hallwilersee completely. The shore path is not really strenuous and leads almost all the way directly along the lake. However, if you go around the whole lake, it becomes a real hike with many exciting sights and wonderful nature with many birds.
It shows that the lake shore path is only today, in modern times, unbuilt. In the past, in the Neolithic period, about 6000 years ago, it was different, at that time people built their houses only near the shore for several reasons. The pictures here are a reconstruction of a pile dwelling house.
The original site on the Riesi peninsula near Seengen serves as the source for the construction of the new pile dwelling. Here, a small part of the pile-dwelling village was being excavated in 1923.
In the background the Swiss Alps by nice weather.
Have a Great year!
