After much effort this season, I have finally risen to the Silver Leagues again. This means that my monsters and summoners are back at their peak performance! All the additional abilities have been reinstated and boy are my monsters hungry for some tough challenge.

Today, I'll be showing you guys a noteworthy battle that should be in the top tiers of Splinterlands battle.

Without further ado, let's begin.

Battle Conditions

The mana cap is 46 and there were 5 summoners to choose from: Fire, Water, Life, Death, and Dragon. I chose Death summoner since it has all the debuffs and my summoner level is quite high along with other high-level monsters.

Battle Rules

  • Noxious Fumes: All monsters start the battle poisoned.
  • Keep your distance: Monsters with melee attacks may not be used in battle.

Battle Details

Let's start from my side:

Summoner: Thaddius Brood(Ability: Decrease in HP and Magic damage for all enemy monsters) - Level 5

Tank: Queen Of Crows(Ability: Close range, Headwinds) - Level 3.

Magic Attackers: Djinn Muirat(Ability: Void armour, Giant Killer, Knockout) - Level 2.

Ranged Attackers: Venari Marksrat(Ability: Martyr), Zyriel(Ability: Weapon Training, Life Leech, Divine Shield).

Non-attackers: Riftwing(Ability: Flying, Scavenge, Backfire), Will-o-Wisp(Ability: Flying, Weaken).

My strategy was to have as many monsters with high HP as possible. I kept the Marksrat between Djinn Muirat and Riftwing and not Queen of Crows because if my tank and magic dealer was taken out I wouldn't want my Riftwing to die as it would be the last hope to win. I used Zyriel to teach Rifttwing and Wisp how to use a ranged attack, that way his overall HP would decrease by 2 and get hit with higher damage.

My overall damage per round is 15. Adding in the HP that the Riftwing would rake in, there would be an HP of 7 that it could gather before dying if things went sideways.

Now for the opposition:

Summoner: Quix The Devious(Ability: Decrease in speed and ranged attack)

Tank: Venari Marksrat(Ability: Martyr).

Magic Attackers: Void Dragon(Ability: Flying, Void), Adelade Bringwing(Ability: Flying, Repair, Resurrect), Aves Strugis(Ability: Weapon Training, Divine Shield), Chaos Dragon(Ability: Flying, Scattershot, Blast).

Non-attackers: Evelyn Advera(Ability: Immunity).

His strategy was to increase Void Dragon's ability to the max. That way it could have the highest chance of evading attacks and have a higher damage. He kept Evelyn in the back as it had no poison status from the battle rules thanks to his ability. the rest were monsters with high damage and capable of flying.

His overall damage per round was 11. Considering the fall of Marksrat*, the overall damage per round would've been 13.

Major Events

Round 1

Screenshot (187).png

The summoner traits eliminated cut both the deck's damage significantly. My summoner reduced his overall damage by 3, his summoner decreased my overall damage by 4.
The first monster to die was his Marksrat, no surprise there as it was asking to be taken out. It was resurrected and taken out right after again.

Unfortunately for him, his Void Dragon's damage only increased even though it had the Martyr effect twice. So, his overall damage increased by 1 only which was still shy of 4.

Round 2

Screenshot (190).png

Both teams lose one of their members turning it into a 4 v 5. My Marksrat died and its adjacent monsters got the sweet Martyr effect and thus my overall damage increased by 1.

Screenshot (191).png

His Chaos Dragon eliminated my Zyriel and thus turned it into a 4 v 4.

Screenshot (192).png

2 of his monsters fell before moving onto the 3rd round thanks to my Djinn Muirat and Queen of Crows*.

Round 3

Screenshot (193).png

They finally eliminated my Queen but my overall HP was still greater than his.

Round 4

Screenshot (194).png

Unfortunately, my Wisp died, so the ability to have all the HP of the enemy monsters reduced has been broken. His overall HP increased by 1, meaning he was still in the game.

Screenshot (195).png

Evelyn gets taken out making it a classic 1 v 2. My Djinn was at the same HP as his Dragon but the key fact was that if my Djinn died, he would win because the overall HP would not have mattered if my Riftwing could not attack and he would get to attack twice and beat me. With the poison in play, it might come into a draw.

Round 5

Screenshot (196).png

This was the hardest part to watch, the moment of truth. His turn came along, and he hit Djinn's shield! Djinn had a void armour that prevented enemy attacks from getting onto his HP if he had a shield.

And in the end, it was Djinn who took out the enemy and brought in the victory.

Results

It is always wise to have a monster with scavenger ability in a battle where the rules have poison in it. That way, even if all of your monsters die, if you could just protect your Riftwing, you could win a battle without doing the bloodshed yourself. Now, at the end of the battle, I honestly didn't notice that Djinn had his armor on which was why I thought I was about to lose. But, even if my Djinn died, the overall HP would matter since I would be very close to losing a sure-shot victory.
