The Brawl That Shook The Diamond Arenas | Born Again ~ Melee Mayhem ~ Counterspell | The Perfect Deck Beaten With Brute Strength

Hello, splinter-warriors. I hope you all are doing well today.

Today, I will share a battle with all the action I have wanted for some time. Thankfully, it can be included in the highly anticipated event of Battle Mage Secrets where all the members of the splinterlands community gather and portray their best fight per the specific battle rules.

Without further ado, let's begin!

Battle Conditions

The mana cap is 46 and there are 3 summoners to choose from: Fire, Nature, and Death. With such a huge mana cap, I had to choose the death summoner since its debuffs would be useful against enemy monsters bound to have high HP. The opposition chose the nature summoner.

Battle Rules:-

  • Born Again: All monsters have the rebirth ability.
  • Melee Mayhem: All melee monsters can attack from any position.
  • Counterspell: All monsters have the magic reflect ability.

Battle Details

Let's start from my side:

Summoner: Thaddius Brood(Ability: Decrease in HP and Magic damage by 1 for all enemy monsters).

Tank: Harklaw(Ability: Shield, Demoralize, Immunity).

Melee Attackers: Cursed Windeku(Ability: Thorns, Heal), Disintegrater(Ability: Demoralize, Trample), Undead Rexx(No Ability), Carrion Shade(Ability: Flying), Mantaroth(Ability: Shield, Armoured strike).

My strategy was to reduce the opposition's overall damage to the lowest level, and then reduce the incoming damage by half. Thanks to the Battle Rules, I surmised that he was bound to use melee attackers. That's why I used Harklaw, with its shield and demoralize ability, it reduces the overall melee damage by 1. Disintegrater would also reduce the incoming melee damage by 1. I kept Mantaroth in the end as I expected him to use monsters with the sneak ability. Undead Rexx is an unpopular choice but when the going gets rough and the mana cap is high, this monster outshines every other one with its insanely high melee damage. Windeku is my personal fav and kept it just behind the tank, that way, should Harklaw fall it could stay in the tank's position for longer with its heal ability.

My overall damage per round is 16, with a potential healing of 3. Should Mantaroth keep its shield, it comes to 19. If Windeku gets to use its Thorns, it comes to 21 damage per round.

Now for the opposition's turn.

Summoner: Lobb Lowland(Ability: Decrease in speed by 1 for all enemy monsters).

Tank: Venari Marksrat(Ability: Martyr).

Dual Attacker: Quora Towershed(Ability: Bloodlust, Heal).

Ranged Attacker: Fungus Flinger(Ability: Martyr).

Magic Attackers: Venari Spellsmith(Ability: Dispel), Mycelic Slipspawn(Ability: Taunt).

Melee Attacker: Terraceous Hulk(Ability: Taunt, Void armour).

His strategy seemed to draw out the battle and divert all of the damage toward his taunt specialists while his bloodthirsty monster would trigger bloodlust ability through martyr effects and elimination and have unbelievably high stats.

His overall damage per round is 12 per round with a potential healing of 3. Should the martyr effects trigger twice, it would come to 16 per round. Should bloodlust get triggered, it would increase by 2 each time.

Major Events

Round 2

Screenshot (1347).png

The first monster to fall was his Rat giving his Queen stat boost twice.

Screenshot (1348).png

The second to fall was his melee attacker due to its taunt ability, it suffered too much damage.

Round 3

Screenshot (1352).png

The third monster to fall was his second taunter as it also took out my tank along with itself.

Screenshot (1353).png

Next, it was his magic attacker. Even so, his overall damage was 9 with just 2 monsters while mine was 17 per round with 5 monsters.

Round 4

Screenshot (1355).png

And, after half the round was complete, his dual attacker fell flat thanks to my Windeku with it's thorns ability.

And, at the end of the 4th round, his Fungus gets cleansed.

Results

As you can see, this battle was an extremely close one since his strategy was working perfectly fine against mine. His only hurdle was my Windeku, no wonder it is my favorite monster. The thorns in the end was the game changer. Albeit he fully used the *Battle Rules to his advantage and got it too but the damage intake was just too large even for his high stat boosted monster.
