Hello, gamers of Hive. I hope you all are doing well.

Today, I will share Kratos and Atreus' journey across the mines of Svartalfheim after they met with Durlin. This episode changed a few of my conceptions about the Norse God of War which is exactly what I wanted to highlight in this game.

Without further ado, let's begin!

I met the eccentric Durlin, Brok and Sindri’s cousin. His octopus gave Atreus a stone. Durlin asked about the axe, that’s where Kratos claimed it as a memento from his wife, Faye. They didn’t get much information about Tyr from Durlin but they did get a bill of 2 gold coins as payment for breaking his stuff. Later, they climbed on a box cart and made their way to a Dreki’s nest. Took me a little while to beat it. Next, we went on another cart to the entrance of the mines.

This Time

Kratos and Atreus entered the mines and got deeper into the heart of the canyon, the Applecore. Atreus asked Kratos why they were not allowed to fight alongside Tyr against Odin. To back up his theory, he told that the shrines portrayed Tyr as the only one to stand up against Odin when no one else would. Kraots replied that stories from long ago never tell the whole story.

A few ways further, I found Sinndri's shop and the first thing I got my hands on was the resurrection stone. This little life saver was what I needed for the journey ahead.

The mines had a lot of puzzles to solve, and the maze-like pathways with enemies lurking at every corner

I finally reached the first mini boss room where I had to finish off this "The Hateful" guy. He spawns a few Draugrs before finally unleashing multi projectiles.

It needed about 25 minutes to finish. This is where I learned that killing this guy was a side quest. This is also when I understood that the side quest bosses were the tougher ones and not the main story boss.

The first of the Hateful and quite a way to put it in the diary.

Next, I found the first of the Einherjar that used the Bifrost attacks. One thing was good, though: I just had to avoid taking damage after getting hit once, so I knew I would survive.

A little further ahead, I found Tyr! He was roped with the iron circle, thinking that Atreus and Kratos were an illusion.

Screenshot (494).png

Kratos cut the rope and he was gazing at the god of war of this realm. Not much tough, he must've thought.

To further prove to him that they were real, Mimir asked that he be shown to his long lost friend. Tyr got more frightened and exclaimed that they had killed Mimir. Atreus quickly responded that they brought him back right after. Upon hearing this, he made a quick run from there. Atreus ran after him as the mine shaft entrance closed behind them.

I had to beat a few more Einherjar before I caught up with the fraidy god of war. Kratos pinned him to the wall, asked that he man up and look at his son who brought them there to free him. His son believed in him.

Screenshot (497).png

Upon hearing that, he finally realised that it was all happening for real and agreed to leave with the gods.

Tyr clarified that he did not know what to believe and what not to since everything was made of magic and things would not end well for him if Odin were unhappy. Kratos told the company that they were leaving now.

And that was it for today. My god, meeting Tyr in his weakened state begged the question, what Odin did to the God of War to get him this scared. Moreover, the powerful side bosses were another task I did not know how to compute as I am playing it on the hardest mode and beating them would truly make me the movement king, which is what I want to believe... XD.

See these events, I think they would conjure up a plan to take down Odin back at the realm between realms, where Sindri and Brok were.
