Today, I shall share a battle that was a one-stop shop toward victory and probably one of the fastest battles I have had this season. The key in this battle was strategy and monster choice; it played a huge part in the game as it ended in the second round!

Without further ado, let's begin!

Battle Conditions

The mana cap is 28 and there are 3 summoners to choose from: Water, Life, and Death.

Battle Rules:-

  • Reverse Speed: Monsters with the lowest speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks.
  • Noxious Fumes: All monsters start the battle poisoned.

Keeping the battle rules in mind, the safest option was to choose the one monster I have complete faith in the death faction; I can base my deck around this one monster while using my best summoner on the deck.

Battle Details

Let's start from my side:

Summoner: Thaddius Brood(Ability: Decrease in Hp and magic damage by 1 for all enemy monsters)(Level 5)

Tank: Harklaw(Ability: Shield, Immunity, Demoralize).

Ranged Attackers: Venari Marksrat(Ability: Martyr), Ayriel(Ability: Life Leech, Divine Shield, Weapon Training), Weirding Warrior(Ability: Shatter).

Non-Attacker: Riftwing(Ability: Flying, Scavenger, Backfire).

Blocked Melee Attacker: *Corpse Fiend).

My strategy was to have a tank that would not have any debuffs and receive a stats boost in the second round while my non-attacker turned attacker would scavenge all the HP lost on both sides before attacking the enemy troops. I used Fiend as an elaborate shield, giving me an extra HP for Riftwing. Moreover, I chose to use *Weirding because of its ability to shatter; this could turn the tide of the play should my opponent use a tank with a high shield given that Water Summoners could be used. I used Zyriel to train Riftwing while hoping it would survive the rounds by taking in the 2 HP after contacting enemy troops. That way, my average HP would remain high.

My overall damage per round is 11 with a potential HP increase of 2. After the second round, a potential increase in HP to 5 might occur while overall damage would increase to 12.

Now, for the opposition:

Summoner: General Sloan(Ability: Increase is ranged attack by 1 for all ally ranged attackers)(Level 6)

Tank: Blinding Reflector(No Ability).

Melee attacker: Stitch Leech(Ability: Sneak).

Magic Attacker: Venari Spellsmith(Ability: Dispel, Amplify).

Ranged Attackers: Pelacor Arbalest(Ability: Double Strike, flying), Portal Spinner(Ability: Sniper).

Non-attacker: Scavo Hireling(Ability: Repair, Camouflage).

His strategy was to inflict a ton of damage and finish the game within 2 rounds as he favored quantity over quality. He chose 6 units with high damage output but low average HP. His target area was to try and hack away from the front of my deck while a single monster would attack me from the back as he expected me to keep my healers in the back, which is what most players do. He chose to get all types of damage he could get his hands on to make sure my tank fell within the second round as he was courting on the poison effect to take place at the start of the second round.

His overall damage per round is 14 damage per round with a shield restoration of 2.

Major Events

Round 1

Screenshot (2128).png

The first monster to fall was my Corpse; it had served its purpose by shielding my Warrior.

Next, his tank fell after half the round had passed and my Riftwing got another HP.

And at the end of the round, his sneak attacker loses its grip making it into a 3 v 5.

Round 2

Screenshot (2131).png

At the start of the round, 2 of his and my warriors fell. All that Hp was scavenged by my Riftwing as it and my tank gained a stats boost as Marksrat fell.

Near the end of the round, his major damage dealer was rendered useless before it fell before my Riftwing.

Finally, the game concludes with my tank delivering the finishing blow as my max HP raised came to 14 HP

Results

The number one thing to remember when playing in a battle with noxious fumes is to have monsters with high HP regardless of the cost of mana. If one cannot secure a high average HP during battle, then that deck is bound to fall in the test of time.
