After a long time, I have finally embarked on the story of Atreus and Kratos on their legendary journey. From all the spoilers I have already got, I think I will be playing this game on the hardest difficulty to make the events and gameplay immersive. That would mean that even the most mundane enemy spawn can easily kill me with 2 hits.

The Last Event

From the last time I played, I remember Kratos killing Baldur in front of Freya and she cursed him to the utmost severity and threatened to hunt him down for all eternity. So, I entered the Recap mode and viewed all that had happened, and how Kratos had snapped Baldur's head.

Firstly, I changed the Lock on Camera thingy since I would need a little help from the game to direct me automatically to the next enemy in the area without needing me to switch again and again.

Lastly, I had to select the highest difficulty available since I would be playing it once and needed to challenge myself one last time. After this, I believe I'll probably never look back on this masterpiece, as the people call it.

The game begins with Kratos still reminiscing over his wife's ashes as Atreus went into the wild and hunted a deer.

On their way back, they went through a forest where the Vanir goddess waited patiently. Once they were in range, she transformed from a bird to human/god form and stabbed Kratos once before getting thrown off the sled.

Once they entered a safe region, Kratos had installed a talisman of sorts where Freya for some reason could not enter, they brought in their fresh food down the sled and into their house.

Atreus and Kratos moved about and found that one of their wolves was dying. Kratos told him that he must prepare for what would come in just 3 words...

This is the first hug of sorrow we find moments after entering the game and finding that the entire map is frozen. He recited and chanted a spell and his wolf's spirit flew away.

Atreus wanted to bury the wolf but Kratos said that their enemies were up and about. So, Atreus being a kid wanted to know the answers... about his role, about what his mother would've wanted but Kratos calmly told him that he was not ready.

Atreus walked off in anger while Kratos entered his tavern and told Mimir about the wolf and the conversation. Mimir agreed to Kratos' concerns while sympathizing with Atreus. With all this on his mind, Kratos decided to take some rest.

This is the first time we get to see Atreus's mother and Kratos's wife. She is of Slavic origin, almost like the Vikings. They were moving about the forest and suddenly she told him there was much to do and Kratos needed to act. She placed her hands on his head and Kratos woke up from his slumber.

Mimir asked if Atreus was okay, it had been some time since he had left to bury the wolf. So, Kratos left the shack and found a footprint on the ground, that looked like an animal's. Just then, he got ambushed by a few raiders. This was also the game's first battle with the highest difficulty, it was pretty basic.

Moving ahead, we found a bear taken down by a creature, possibly the one that had left the footprint behind. Kratos pointed out that the creature to killed the bear must've been huge. So, we hurried to retrieve Atreus as a loose creature of madness was on the loose.

After passing a few caves and caverns filled with raiders, we get to a clearing with a wild bear that had beef with Kratos.

After I beat the bear on my first try, we found that the bear was Atreus transformed. He slowly came to. The last event he remembered after burying Fenrir was how he charged the bear before feeling sad, then angry, then scared.

Kratos asked that he should not abandon his training, no one knew the full extent of his abilities. But, young Atreus wanted to find answers and stressed the fact that taking no action about the role of Loki and the giants was a risk. He asked Kratos to be a General and not a father for once, Kratos declined and told them that they must go home as he held his son in the palm of his hand.
