2 New Additions To My Family!
Hello, people of Hive, I hope you all are doing well in this holy month of Ramadan.
This post is not about having a pet but about gaining an irreplaceable friend.
After 6 long years of using hand-me-downs, I finally got an upgrade on my gears. And, there is a huge story about how I got them which I will share with you guys.
The first device is the phone.
The iPhone 14
The box was nothing over the top. I noticed how this was a bit thinner than usual. The last one's case I had(iPhone 7) was bigger and wider as it had the power adapter and lightning charger cable. Compared to that, it had none.
It fits perfectly into my hand and doesn’t weigh that much; the perfect item for a minimalist as it does not cover much space.
Inside was no power adapter: only the cable and a warranty card. This one was a 128GB one.
Now, I did ask my dad to get a new phone but he got the one that was not the Pro version as it would've cost a little over $50 extra but beggars can't be choosers ig😅.
What I had forgotten was to ask my cousin to buy the power adapter with it. They only provided the lightning cable and now I have to get one from the local markets.
Looking at the stuff they provide is becoming less and less. First, they took away the headphones, then the head of the charger, they aren't far from making the customers pay for the box too! Maybe they'd charge 30 bucks for it in the future.
Next, it's the laptop.
The K5G5 Laptop
This is the one I was waiting for for a long time and there’s a story for getting this too. You see, the last laptop was a hand-me-down and that was used already for 4 years. This time I got to choose within $1000. I asked a few friends of mine to suggest me some good ones.
I used Amazon's deal deal at the time to get this laptop. It costs $839 and a 16% tax. It got shipped to my cousin's place within 2 days and he gave it to me after he reached home, in Dhaka.
Dad, at the last moment of making the call to purchase the PC, asked me to wait. I asked why, and he said that in a few days, my cousin was going to arrive in Bangladesh. He was to bring in my phone and laptop. So, I had to choose something fast. Now, I didn't know what to look for in a laptop since my original plan was to buy a PC. I asked a few friends and @riz611 what to get. What I surmised from their suggestion was this one, GIGABYTE.
The only problem it has is the RAM(8GB) and the amount of space it has(512GB). Every single gaming laptop has these 2 problems. The good news is that both of them could be changed or upgraded with an extension at any given time of the day but most people like me would never find time and money on the same day. Other than that, this laptop is awesome.
I haven't tweaked it much, I just change the modes of performance when I'm watching a movie, doing a home task, or playing games. Need to figure out how to bring its true potential or if there even is such a thing.
It came with the usual cables and warranty cards, an instructions manual, and a cleaning cloth. I love how this was a black one too!
Now that I think about it, I could've gotten Alienware in one of their deal at Amazon. I saw a few with other laptops as well.
But, this one looks good, not a bad choice when I only had 2 hours to choose from that would dictate what I would be using for the next 5 years.

Finally, if I were to play or stream any game, I could just type out my PC specs and give the title of the game without needing to give any content XD.
And MAN, did I get cucked hard out of a PC. God help the guy that put this idea in my dad's brain cuz if I ever find him...
Hopefully, I might buy a PS5 by the end of the year.
