#MusicQuiz - What do they have in common? - 50 HIVE price
Hi,
I was thinking today, to do some small contest, where the winner will get 50 HIVE. There might be no winner in the end, but I think, if this one has enough traction, will do the contests more often.
To enter you have to say, what all the following bands or songs have in common, and why I have chosen them. It is one tough contest, as there is some research involved, but 50 Hive is 50 Hive, a little effort is needed. And no, the answer is not that they sing, or sing in English.
I will start with Editors a very good English rock band. Their music is exceptional, and I would love to see them live one day.
Here is one of their greatest hits:
We remain on the British Island, for another band from there, Manfred Mann, but with a German import, Klaus Voormann:
The Brits can make also good electronic music, and The KLF (also known as the Justified Ancients of Mu Mu, the JAMs, the Timelord) needs to be mentioned.
I will go now to the neighbour island, called Ireland, to listen to The Cranberries, which need to be in the list, as they are a fit for the solution of the contest.
We go over the pound to hear some old school jazz, from the greatest of all, Duke Ellington:
So, what correlation is between them?
i actually tried. different eras, different music, different continent. After some searching i even tried several AI bots. Most common answer was that they are all great musicians :)
It is a tough one, I know. Will check the responses till Friday.
One possible commonality is their impact on the music industry and their ability to create music that resonates with audiences. They have each been successful in their own right and have had a significant influence on the development of their respective genres.
that is what ChatGPT told me :)
Another commonality could be their focus on creating music that is emotionally resonant and that addresses important social and political issues.
Hint for you, did not watch on their gayness, so this would not be a path.
A good effort by chatgbt 😂
While I am gonna think about this one, I thought lets do some self-promotion and offer you a chance to win $1 every week.
I do a very similar type of riddle every week using only 3 songs in my Tune Tune Train connection, this one is still open for you to join:
https://peakd.com/hive-192806/@whywhy/and-dollar1-ttt-week-17-amanaemonesia-sunset-on-arcadia
It contains 3 songs and 1 hint, if no one gets it right by Friday Night an additional hint will be shared in my Midnight Gems Session. That is what happened this week so you can find another clue here (scroll to the bottom "Riddle me This Section):

Hope that this reaches a few more riddlers that enjoy a weekly challenge.
Now this one is hard, the more songs the more difficult it gets but I am going to have a go at it anyway.
Thinking about how I do my riddles, the connection sits with Duke Ellington, the only non UK artist (born and died in US) from a completely different era as the others as well and a very different genre.
Now my initial guess is all other bands were inspired by the duke, or something like that but....
so far it´s not that all others used the Dukes samples, or worked on a tribute album, or covered a Duke song as far as my research goes. So maybe I am wrong.
The search continues, thanks for the challenge I will be back
I like your reasoning. Duke Ellington is in, to avoid hitting the UK path, thank you for the notice.
Thanks but more to come I am still thinking and checking, but I will need to sleep on it one more night as it´s a hard one
Like I said more to come, it ended up being much more, like a whole post of more:
https://peakd.com/hive-192806/@whywhy/stv-challenge-not-a-challenge
But I ended om with one common thing, all songs are about Despair.
Now I don´t think that is correct, but as you can read I used all my tricks and came up with nothing else but Despair.
Thanks for challenging me, really enjoyable.
