Crying dreams
Hello community, I hope you are very well.
I won't lie to you, this year has been one of the worst I've ever been through, I thought it would be better than the last but it really wasn't, many of my goals ended before I even started, it's really been hard to cope with all this, but at least I have something that no one can take away from me and it's art, at least with this I can vent a bit of everything I feel, that's why my style is usually something nostalgic, not just because I like to portray depressive subjects or for simple pleasure, sometimes I just need it, I need it to drain a bit and that is sometimes difficult too, because I get frustrated easily, but I keep going and I'll keep going until my hands drop off, because it's the only thing I have, that's why I drew today " Crying dreams" it could be said that in this portrait I am reflecting everything I said before, the little stars would be those dreams that were left unreached, I decided to add a shadow to this drawing because it seemed to me that it gave a more nostalgic touch, a Feeling like been depressed in bed on a Sunday morning haha, the dim light on her face making the starry dreams shine, falling from her eyes, fading into nothing.
I started my sketch and I wanted to work with my favorite color: Purple, I wanted it to be something very personal so I had to apply that color that I like so much, so I chose a color palette that contrasted with the purple, on her skin I applied desaturated cold tones and some dark brown tones, for the eyes I chose a very pretty blue and in a new layer I began to apply more tones to shape her features, I smoothed the skin little by little and detailed the face more and more starting with the eyes.
I painted more details on the face including makeup, I made a eyeliner that is one of my favorites, and I painted a choker that is similar to one I have, for the hair I put a light purple tone and in a new layer I applied darker and lighter purple to shape the hair, I painted the stars with pinks, purples, blues, and whites, then added red tones to her nose, lips, and eyes, creating this face that looks like she's crying.
At this point I decided that a multiply layer on top with a dark purple tone and erasing some parts of the face would be quite good, because it would give a more nostalgic tone, giving this effect of a room where only a small reflection of light enters that would make shine the little stars and highlight her eyes, finally apply highlight details and a general color adjustment to the whole image to obtain more striking tones.
