Excursion to Monte Piana in the Dolomites - Discovering Italy with alequandro!

Hello everyone! I finally found some time to post about my hike on Mount Piana.

Monte Piana is a mountain of the Sesto Dolomites and is located in the province of Belluno.

To reach the place you pass through Misurina with its beautiful lake.

Once we reached the foot of the mountain, we climbed to an altitude of 2300 meters with Land Rover Defender.

Once you get to the top, the panorama is 360 degrees and it's fantastic!

Ciao a tutti! Finalmente ho trovato un po' di tempo per fare il post sulla mia escursione sul monte Piana.

Il monte Piana è una montagna delle Dolomiti di Sesto e si trova in proviancia di Belluno.

Per raggiungere il posto si passa per Misurina con il suo bellissimo lago.

Una volta giunti ai piedi del monte, siamo saliti a quota 2300 metri con delle Land Rover Defender.

Arrivati in quota il panorama è a 360 gradi ed è fantastico!

The beauty of this place is that you almost always walk at the same altitude, so you can have enough energy to keep a good pace and cover considerable distances.

Il bello di questo posto è che si cammina quasi sempre sulla stessa quota, quindi si riesce ad avere abbastanza energia per tenere un buon passo e coprire distanze considerevoli.

There are a lot of Austrian trenches and tunnels dating back to the First World War.
Fortunately, they are periodically checked and restored.

Ci sono moltissime trincee e gallerie austriache risalenti alla prima guerra mondiale.
Per fortuna vengono periodicamente controllate e ripristinate.

Some tunnels are practicable and interesting, walking through them you realize a little how they were forced to live and fight those guys.

Alcune gallerie sono praticabili e interessanti, percorrendole ci si rende conto un pochino come erano costretti a vivere e combattere quei ragazzi.

At one point the wind got up so we managed to find a protected place and had lunch shielded by the rocks.

Ad un certo punto si è alzato vento così siamo riusciti a trovare un luogo protetto e abbiamo pranzato schermati dalle rocce.

In the afternoon a few snowflakes fell for a few seconds, unbelievable!

Nel pomeriggio per qualche secondo è caduto qualche fiocco di neve, incredibile!

As you can see from these shots of mine, the sky was a continuous succession of clear and cloudy.
I was lucky because I had underestimated the temperature a little, I was not prepared for a possible high mountain storm.

Come vedete da questi miei scatti, il cielo era un continuo susseguirsi di sereno e nuvoloso.
Sono stato fortunato perchè avevo sottovalutato un po' la temperatura, non ero preparato ad un eventuale temporale d'alta montagna.

The guide took breaks every 20 minutes to explain the positions of the Italian and Austrian armies in the various mountains, enriching the story with anecdotes and stories from the First World War.

La guida ogni circa 20 minuti fceva pause per spiegarci le posizioni degli eserciti italiano e austriaco nelle varie montagne arricchendoil racconto con aneddoti e storie della prima guerra mondiale.

After a few hours of hiking we returned to the Bosi refuge and from there we decided to go down to the cars via an old military road.

Dopo alcune ore di escursione siamo tornati al rifugio Bosi e da lì abbiamo deciso di scendere verso le auto tramite una vecchia strada militare.

The view was fantastic, you could see the Misurina lake surrounded by woods and mountains.

The light was great.

Il panorama era fantastico, si riusciva a vedere il lago di Misurina circondato dai boschi e dalle montagne.

La luce era fantastica.

Along the military road we extended the route by a few kilometers but it was worth it, the view from there was too beautiful!

Percorrendo la strada militare abbiamo allungato il percorso di qualche chilometro ma ne è valsa la pena, il panorama da lì era troppo bello!

After all, making these posts for me is like creating an album of my best experiences and I like the idea of ​​going back to look at them every now and then.
