Excursion to Monte Fior in Gallio, in the province of Vicenza. - Discovering Italy with alequandro!

Hi friends, I haven't been there for a while, unfortunately I was unwell and I didn't want to post.

Ciao amici, è da un po' che non mi faccio vivo, purtroppo sono stato poco bene e non avevo voglia di fare dei post.

Today I take you to Gallio in the province of Vincenza where I made one of my last excursions.
On this occasion I joined a group of hikers from a sports association to which I am a member.

Oggi vi porto a Gallio in provincia di Vincenza dove ho fatto una delle mie ultime escursioni.
In questa occasione mi ero unito ad un gruppo di escursionisti di una associazione sportiva a cui sono iscritto.

We arrived at the Malga Slapeur car park at an altitude of 1628 meters and started walking, it was 10 in the morning.

Siamo arrivati al parcheggio di malga Slapeur a quota 1628 metri e abbiamo inziato a camminare, erano le 10 del mattino.

Despite the altitude it was very hot, perhaps also because it hasn't rained for weeks...

Nonostante l'altitudine faceva molto caldo, forse anche perchè non piove da settimane...

I confess that I was not in shape at all because the day before I was at a wedding but I found no excuses and I was there walking together with a nice group of people.

Vi confesso che non ero per niente in forma perchè il giorno prima ero ad un matrimonio ma non ho trovato scuse ed ero lì a camminare insieme ad unbel gruppo di persone.

For my tastes too many people, I like to immerse myself in nature and it is not easy with so many people around.

Per i miei gusti sin troppe persone, a me piace immergermi nella natura e non è facile con così tante persone vicino.

As you can see the landscape is very beautiful, due to the altitude there are not many trees so finding shade is utopia.

Come potete vedere il paesaggio è molto bello, a causa della quota non ci sono molti alberi quindi trovare ombra è utopia.

Look how beautiful those rock formations are, they're not that common to see.

Guardate che belle quelle formazioni rocciose, non sono così comuni da vedere.

Luckily I had remembered to put on the sunscreen cream, after a few kilometers I felt my neck burn.

Per fortuna mi ero ricordato di mettermi la crema con la protezione solare, dopo qualche chilometro sentivo il collo scottare.

We were walking around the mountain, the view was spectacular and sometimes I could forget how tired I was from the day before!

Stavamo girando attorno alla montagna, la vista era spettacolare e qualche volta riuscivo a dimenticarmi di quanto ero stanco dal giorno prima!

At a certain point we reached another hut, this was closed.

ITA

Ad un certo punto abbiamo raggiunto un'altra malga, questa era chiusa.

After a pause of a few minutes during which the guide explained some important details about the First World War that was also fought there, we resumed the journey.

Dopo una pausa di qualche minuto durante la quale la guida ci ha spiegato alcuni dettagli importanti sulla prima guerra mondiale che è stata combattuta anche lì, abbiamo ripreso il cammino.

Wow, there were so many of us. In some moments I tried to imagine what it must have been like in 1917 to see soldiers moving and fighting on these peaks.

Caspita, eravamo davvero tanti. In alcuni momenti ho cercato di immaginare come doveva essere nel 1917 vedere i soldati spostarsi e combattere su queste cime.

While walking I also saw this single flower, I think it is an orchid.

Mentre camminavo ho anche visto questo singolo fiore, penso sia un'orchidea.

1824 meters, not bad. We were on Monte Fior! It was time to descend.

1824 metri, niente male. Eravam sul Monte Fior! Era arrivato il momento di scendere di quota.

Just below the summit the military trenches began to be seen, we visited some of them...

Proprio a sotto la cima cominciavano a vedersi le trincee militari, qualcuna l'abbiamo visitata...

Leaving a military tunnel I realized that the visibility was further improved, there was no longer the haze due to the sultry heat.

Usciti da una galleria militare mi sono reso conto che la visibilità era ulteriormente migliorata, non c'era più la foschia dovuta al caldo afoso.

Right here on the Harness Stringa we decided to eat sandwiches, I was starving!

Proprio qui sulla Selletta Stringa abbiamo deciso di mangiare i panini, io stavo morendo di fame!

We took advantage of those stepped rocks to sit and rest while we ate.

Abbiamo aproffittato di quelle rocce a forma di gradoni per sederci e riposarci mentre mangiavamo.

Going up the mountain there were fascinating trenches camouflaged among the rocks ...

Risalendo la montagna c'erano delle affascinanti trincee mimetissate tra le rocce...

On the top there is a war memorial.

Sulla cima c'è un monumento ai caduti.

That position allowed a perfect 360-degree view, ideal for controlling the territory from any attacks.

Quella posizione permetteva una visuale perfetta a 360 gradi, l'ideale per controllare il territorio da eventuali attacchi.

The following section was all downhill alternating woods and meadows.

Il tratto seguente era tutto in discesa alternato boschi e prati.

We had arrived, I was very happy, I was incredibly tired.
This excursion served as a lesson to me, never plan a challenging excursion the day after a wedding!

Eravamo arrivati, ero felicissimo, avevo una stanchezza addosso incredibile.
Questa escursione mi è servita da lezione, mai programmare un escursione impegnativa il giorno dopo di un matrimonio!
