Easy excursion to Vignui in the San Martino Valley - province of Belluno - Discovering Italy with alequandro!

Hello everyone, a few days ago, as usual I was looking for a new place to visit on google maps and I stumbled upon Vignui, a semi-unknown place in the province of Belluno.

After a short search, it looked promising so I got in my car and drove off!

Ciao a tutti, qualche giorno fa, come di consuetudine stavo cercando su google maps un posto nuovo da visitare e sono incappato su Vignui, un posto semi sconosciuto nella provincia di Belluno.

Dopo una breve ricerca, sembrava promettente così sono salito in auto e sono partito!

The first thing I noticed is the tranquility of the place. You could almost walk in the middle of the road and risk nothing.
There is just a few inhabitants walking in front of the house, nothing more.

La prima cosa che ho constatato è la traquillità del posto. Si potrebbe quasi camminare in mezzo alla strada e non si rischierebbe nulla.

C'è giusto qualche abitante che passeggia di fronte casa, niente di più.

I parked near a large fountain and started walking towards the main church which stands on a small hill...

Ho parcheggiato vicino ad una grande fontana e ho iniziato a camminare verso la chiesa principale che sorge su una piccola collina...

The church was closed but from there I could observe the San Martino Valley which, I did not expect, is very beautiful! I'll show you soon!

La chiesa era chiusa ma da lì potevo osservarela la Valle di San Martino che, non me l'aspettavo, è molto bella! Fra poco vi mostro!

It was time to enter the Valley...

Era arrivato il momento di addentrarmi nella Valle...

Look what a show! Few houses, large pastures, hills and mountains in the background.

Guardate che spettacolo! Poche case, grandi pascoli, colline e sullo sfondo le montagne.

Not far away there is also the castle of Lusa but I will visit it on another occasion.

Non molto distante c'è anche il castello di Lusa ma lo visiterò in un'altra occasione.

The first section is on an asphalted road. There are signs but for the itinerary I relied on the Tobacco app which is very detailed, unfortunately the maps are paid.

Il primo tratto è su strada asfaltata. Ci sono dei cartelli ma per l'itinerario mi sono affidato all'app Tabacco che è molto dettagliata, purtroppo le mappe sono a pagamento.

Walking in that wide valley gives an incredible sense of serenity.

Camminare in quella valle ampia da un senso di serenità incredibile.

I liked to stop and observe that space at 360 degrees, luckily these spaces still exist free from wild construction.

Mi piaceva fermarmi per osservare quello spazio a 360 gradi, per fortuna che esistono ancora questi spazi liberi dall'edilizia selvaggia.

Luckily, just when I was undecided on the path to take, I met a couple of Milanese who moved to Vignui and showed me the path that was hidden and I hadn't really seen it!

Per fortuna, proprio quando ero indeciso sul sentiero da prendere ho incontrato una coppia di milanesi che si sono trasferiti a Vignui e mi hanno indicato il sentiero che era nascosto e non l'avevo proprio visto!

The path continued downhill towards a completely different landscape, this time wooded.

Il sentiero proseguiva in discesa verso un paesaggio completamente differente, questa volta boschivo.

The goal was to arrive at an ancient church that gave the valley its name: the church of San Martino.
And there it was I had almost reached it!

L'obiettivo era arrivare ad una antica chiesa che ha dato il nome alla valle: la chiesa di San Martino.
Ed eccola lì l'avevo quasi raggiunta!

Next to a large lawn is this beautiful church dating from the 15th century...a truly isolated spot for a church!

Vicino ad un ampio prato c'è questa bella chiesa risalente al XV secolo...un posto davvero isolato per una chiesa!

Then I left the church behind and continued along the path to take a loop hike.

Poi mi sono lasciato la chiesa alle spalle e ho proseguito lungo il percorso per fare un'escursione ad anello.

Coming out of the wood, on the left there was a fence with horses, I had almost reached the lower part of the valley where there are large pastures.

Uscendo dal bosco, sulla sinistra c'era un recinto con dei cavalli, ero quasi giunto nella parte bassa della valle dove ci sono grandi pascoli.

As I went on I often stopped to turn around to look at the landscape in the sunset light, fantastic!

Mentre proseguivo mi fermavo spesso per girarmi a guardare il paesaggio con la luce del tramonto, fantastico!

I was almost there...a last photo against the light to conclude a simple but beautiful excursion.

I continue to be surprised by how many interesting places there are in addition to the most popular tourist destinations... there is so much to discover!
