A revitalizing tea 🍇🌿

Puedes leer la versión en español AQUI

I came to spend a few days at my mother's house and I am taking the opportunity to help her with various household chores. One of the things I like here is to be able to enjoy her garden and the fruits of her trees, at least one of which is always in full harvest.

Walking through the garden I found an exotic fruit that I love to eat, but I also find it exquisite to prepare a delicious tea or infusion. It is the typical "uvita criolla" as they call it in my region. I don't know if in other countries it is known by another name but in the Venezuelan plains it is known as uvita. What is this fruit called in your country?

What my ancestors have told me is that this fruit is rich in vitamin C and increases the body's defenses to make it more resistant to certain flu-like illnesses, viruses and respiratory diseases. This time I decided to prepare a tea to share with the family at afternoon snack time, but I combined it with other plants that have beneficial health properties such as peppermint and horsetail, the latter known to be anti-inflammatory and diuretic.

This tea is very easy to prepare, here I leave you the directions:

Ingredients:

  • 6 grapes (uvita)
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 sprig of peppermint
  • 1 sprig of horsetail plant
  • Sugar to taste

Preparation:

Heat the water in a pot, when it boils, crush each grape and add the mint and the bunch of horsetail, cover and let it rest for ten minutes. Serve and enjoy this delicious tea.

Look how this tea turned out, which we were able to share with the family, the grape gives it a reddish color that makes it even more charming.

A big hug to everyone I hope the next time you see this fruit you will be encouraged to prepare this tea. Greetings 🤗

! [SPANISH VERSION]

Saludos 🤗

I love those grapes, but I had no idea you could make tea with them, so thank you so much for sharing!
I love tea because I can't drink much coffee, so this one is great for me!

Hello @millycf1976 I was researching about this plant, also known as piritu, it is from the palm family, scientific name Bactris guineensis (Arecaceae).

Ah! I know it. I thought they were not edible. When I lived in the Philippines, there were many trees with those berries 😁

They are often confused with other similar berries, but this palm has thorns on the stems that make it very particular. They are delicious berries. If they are the same ones you saw in the Philippines, you wasted them 🤦🏽‍♀️ but now you know they are edible 😊
