Learning Digital Drawing - Study of Hands (Anatomy, Shapes and Painting)
Hello friends, I hope you are very well, today I want to show you this "illustration" that I have done to finish my study at the hands of these last 2 days; I tell you that lately I had noticed that in the vast majority of my studies I avoided including hands and this is because they do not come out well at all, so I decided to take two days to concentrate on learning the fundamentals of these and so that the study at the end would not remained in a few isolated sketches, I decided to do some kind of quick illustration that had the hands as the main object, and this rather strange illustration has come out, which I think fits quite well with the theme of alien art, so here are I leave the process of this study.
Hola amigos, espero esten muy bien, el dia de hoy quiero enseñarles esta "ilustracion" que he hecho para terminar mi estudio de manos de estos ultimos 2 dias; les comento que ultimamente me habia fijado que en la gran mayoria de mis estudios obviaba incluir manos y esto es porque no me salen nada bien, asi que decidi tomarme dos dias para concentrarme en aprender los fundamentos de estas y para que el estudio al final no se quedase en unos cuantos bocetos aislados decidi hacer algun tipo de ilustracion rapida que tuviese como objeto principal las manos, y pues ha salido esta ilustracion bastante extraña, la cual creo que calza bastante bien con la tematica de alien art, asi que a continuacion les dejo el proceso de este estudio.

Sketch ✏️ Boceto
First of all I leave you one of the pages that I have made with sketches of hands, in this one without bad I remember I was following the Proko method, although I also made others with the Loomis method and with David Finch's; for the illustration I wanted an image that had the hands as its central axis and I found this on pinterest, I proceeded to sketch a face quite quickly and try to make the hands putting into practice everything I had learned, in this illustration I used the symmetry tool which I had never used it before and it is quite useful, after this I decided to add more hands and it occurred to me to put some hands on top of the head, at first I did it without thinking but when I saw the finished sketch I realized that this composition could have several meanings and it even scared me lol.
Primero que todo les dejo una de las paginas que he hecho con bocetos de manos, en esta sin mal no recuerdo estaba siguiendo el metodo de Proko, aunque también hice otras con el metodo Loomis y con el de David Finch; para la ilustracion queria una imagen que tuviese como eje central las manos y esta la encontre en pinterest, procedi a bocetar un rostro bastante rapido y a tratar de hacer las manos poniendo en practica todo lo aprendido, en esta ilustracion use la herramienta de simetría la cual nunca había usado antes y es bastante útil, luego de esto decidí agregar mas manos y se me ocurrió poner unas manos encima de la cabeza, al principio lo hice sin pensar pero cuando vi el boceto terminado me di cuenta que podría tener varios significados esa composición y hasta miedo me dio jajaja.
Pintura ✒️ Painting
For the painting I decided to do it in gray scale since the purpose was not to do something rich in color but rather to get the hands to be understood and to be anatomically correct although exaggerated, the first thing I painted were the hands of the face in which I tried to emulate the folds and bumps in the best possible way, at that moment I decided to add the main point of light and chose a point behind the head which I had not done and it also helped me to study a little the lighting from that area, then to the face the truth is that I did not put as much dedication as to the hands and I limited myself to following the main shots; where I really felt overwhelmed was in the upper hands where the foreshortening and the lighting defeated me and I couldn't be able to better define the shapes so I still have to work more on the foreshortening; After this I decided to add several layers of different very opaque colors and give it a background with the lighting I wanted.
Para la pintura decidi hacerla en escala de grises ya que la finalidad no era hacer algo rico en color sino mas bien conseguir que las manos se entendiesen y quedaran anatomicamente correctas aunque exageradas, lo primero que pinte fueron las manos de la cara en las cuales trate de emular los pliegues y baches de la mejor forma posible, en ese momento decidi agregar el punto de luz principal y elegi un punto de detras de la cabeza el cual no habia hecho y tambien me sirvio para estudiar un poco la iluminacion desde esa zona, luego a la cara la verdad es que no le puse tanta dedicacion como a las manos y me limite a seguir los planos principales; donde realmente me senti superado fue en las manos de arriba donde el escorzo y la iluminacion me vencieron y no pude ser capaz de definir mejor las formas asi que me queda pendiente trabajar mas los escorsos; luego de esto decidi agregar varias capas de diferentes colores muy opacos y darle un fondo con la iluminacion que queria.

To finish this study and seeing that the concept did not displease me, I chose to increase the lighting and saturation making the painting look more alive and colorful and that was all for this post, I hope you liked it and sorry for the amount of text that I'm very bad at summarizing, see you in the next post, bye
