Applying what I have learned so far "now"

Hey friends I hope you are very well, today I want to show you this practice that I have done in which I try to implement everything I have learned so far from digital drawing, I must say that I am taking information from different sources, including one of my favorite artists Artgerm, who has several videos on youtube explaining parts of his process, I have also seen a lot of Rossdraws, Marco bucci, Reiq, loish and so the account continues; I also mention that I have been doing some courses in domestika, in particular one of karmen loh, from which I think I have relied mostly on the process that I have taken; As digital drawing in my case has more steps than the traditional one, I will proceed to "explain" a little about everything that I have tried to do in each phase, so below the images of the drawing process.

Process 📝 Proceso

Sketch ✏️ Boceto

For this drawing I have completely based on a pinterest reference, I have made the sketch in several layers in which I tried to fit the pose and correct my greatest enemy with the hands, but in the end I have not been able to do much and well. stayed with that Italian hand "mamma mia"; for some reason I have the mania to erase those previous layers, so I can only show you the last sketch that I have made.

Flat colors ✒️ Colores Planos

Then I proceeded to add the flat colors, before this I wanted to make a clean outline as I do in my traditional drawings but currently that is impossible since I do not feel at all comfortable pulling exact lines in digital, I tremble a lot hahaha; for spot colors add the skin tone throughout the drawing and proceeded to lock the layer.

After blocking the layer, I was separating the different parts of the drawing into several layers, one for the shorts, for the shirt and another for the hair.

Shadows and Shines ✒️ Sombras y Brillos

For this step of adding shadows and highlights, I started by following the karmen loh process a bit, in which I add the dark ones, blur with my finger and then add highlights, but I did not feel very comfortable since I think you have to have a lot of control where The shadows are going to be placed, so I opted for a method that other artists use in which they never blur with their finger, rather they go to the top with the dropper adding shadows, mediums, highlights and so on until they find the finish they want; I particularly liked this second method more.

Background ✒️ Fondos

For the background, the truth is that they do not give me so I opted for something simple and I made a gradient with a fairly light blue and then with a custom brush by Kamui Gomasio, an artist from domestika, I proceeded to make this kind of foliage around I made the character green since it seemed to me that it would give him an air of tropical beauty.

Finished drawing ✒️ Dibujo Finalizado

In this step, combine the background with the character, adapting the canvas to the ideal size and I was also erasing some white spaces that remained.

A Little Dodge Color ✒️ Un poco de Color Dodge

Finally it occurred to me to apply a little the famous Color Dodge that Rossdraws uses in his illustrations, but I used it very little since it is quite powerful and I did not want to collapse the whole drawing with brightness; And this would be all for this post in which I have tried to apply everything I have learned so far, of course I will continue to practice much more since digital drawing is great; I hope you liked the illustration bye-bye
