My Actifit Report Card: December 28 2023| Almost the end of the year/もうすぐ年の瀬/[ENG/JPN]
The article in Japanese is in the second half.★
This is a tea store on my way to walk home.
It is a store that sells Japanese tea leaves, but they also seem to sell original Japanese sweets.
I prefer coffee to tea and rarely eat Japanese sweets, so I don't have much connection with this store.
However, I took this photo because of the beauty of the store's structure at night, decorated with this kadomatsu (gate pine tree).
Today is December 28, and most companies close their business today.
After work, crowds of people were seen here and there going to parties.
This tea store will be closed soon and will be closed for the New Year holidays until the beginning of work next year.
Decorated in front of the store is a kadomatsu.
The custom of decorating the front of a shop with kadomatsu is a custom that, surprisingly, will not disappear anytime soon.
Kadomatsu is said to mark the arrival of the god of the new year.
It is believed that the god dwells in the branches of the pine tree, and that the god will make the store prosper throughout the year.
In fact, such large and magnificent kadomatsu are often seen in places of business welcoming customers to the store.
I believe that there is a custom all over the world of decorating the entrances and exits of houses and stores with plants for each season.
I love the idea that God will find them and come to us to give us safety and security for the coming year.
I am interested in such customs and motifs that symbolize the same feelings, even if they have slightly different forms all over the world.
The fact that the custom continues to exist is probably because it reflects some common feeling or belief in something.
I think that from such a point of view, it would be possible to have a chance to learn about each other's culture and share the same feelings, or so I think.
■diary with a few words
As for the company I work for, today marks the end of a year of work.
I did a good job for a year in my own way, so as soon as I got home, I opened a beer and toasted by myself (laughs).
I know best how hard I worked.
Japanese★
Google Translate & DeepL, thank you as always.
I am glad that you read it :-)
