Protective Cassava Measures Against Monkey, Squirrel, And Grass Cutter

When it comes to cassava farming we usually face a very big challenge before the harvesting time. The challenge we usually face when our cassava is supposed to be due for harvesting is usually from squirrel, grass cutter, and monkey. The three animals are known for removing a mature cassava from the planted farm ridge which they'll later eat.

For the case of monkey, they can destroy mature and immature cassava but they prefer to remove a mature one so that they can actually eat the tuber. When I planted my cassava farm recently, I noticed that most of the stems which I planted were uprooted and removed from the cultivated farm. One day, I saw that it was monkey that has been destroying the planted cassava stems.

For the case of squirrel and grass cutter, what they do is to watch around the cassava farm before they can start to remove a cassava tuber from the root. Funny thing about squirrel and grass cutter is that most time they may be removing soil covering a cassava tuber and the owner of the farm will visit the farm. The grass cutter or squirrel will run away from the farm and if the owner of the farm fails to see where the grass cutter or squirrel was digging to remove a cassava tuber so that he can cover it back with soil, the squirrel or grass cutter will surely come back to make sure they succeed from removing the cassava tubers.

Ways to protect our cassava farm from squirrel, grass cutter and monkey

To protect our cassava stems and it's tuber from been destroyed, we'll can actually set trap using a customized one. When placing the the trap, it should be done around the whole cassava farm land to make sure that anywhere the squirrel or grass cutter may follow to attack our farm land the trap will catch them. Then when setting the trap, we must ensure we use a cassava tuber for it so that they'll attract squirrels and grass cutter.

To scare monkey out from our cassava farm, the best way to achieve it is to set artificial human inside the farm. It's enough to chase monkey away. The set the artificial human, we only need to construct a tree like a cross and then wear human dress to it.
