Soulbound Reward Cards Are Live In Splinterlands
Powered By Canva
Hello fellow Splinterlands addict!
Hope everyone had an amazing end of season as we had our last chance of getting the existing reward cards from the reward chests.
In case, you did not already know, from the current season i.e. season 104, we will not be receiving any of the reward cards we have been getting even though most of them were long way to reach their print numbers.

In a Town hall back in late November it was first disclosed by @yabapmatt that Soulbound reward cards are to be introduced in Splinterlands and initially the community actually had a mixed reaction on this idea. But eventually the majority actually started to like the idea as this is a step in the right direction to strengthen the Splinterlands economy further and also incentivize the players to actually play the game and earn the reward cards instead of going on a shopping spree to buy the cards from the market (read bots).
Couple of weeks back, we came to know about the exact number of cards, their rarity, drop rate and the new abilities introduced with these new set of cards though a official Splinterlands post, and most of us have been super hyped about these cards ever since to be honest.
So, overall we are getting 43 new reward cards among which :
- 37 Monster cards
- 6 Summoner cards (one from each element except Neutral)
- 12 Legendary cards (two from each basic element, one Dragon, and one Neutral)
- 7 Epic cards (one from each element)
- 12 Rare cards (two from each basic element, one Dragon, and one Neutral)
- 12 Common cards (two from each basic element and two Neutral)
And as a side note, these are honestly speaking cards having the best artworks in the game so far.
Season Rewards
Last season I actually tried my luck in both Modern and Wild Format and in the process I was able to reach Diamond II in Modern and Gold I in Wild Format. Since I usually do not play in the Wild Format, I actually had to do a lot of grinding and naturally my total number of chests were significantly low.
I was able to push to 36 Diamond Chests in total for the season.
Let's take a look on what I was able to earn with them.

Not extraordinary but can't complain about pulling that Countess Sinash!
Did we get any Soulbound card yet ?
Now, let us have a look if I was able to pull anything good from the daily reward from the first day of the new season which may reward us with some of the new soulbound reward cards.
I actually had 7 diamond chests to claim today to kick start the season.
So, the chaos legion pack and big merits pull is quite nice but I was actually looking for the new cards and surely I was able to pull off 1 epic card and 4 common cards. Let's have a look at the stats of the card shall we?
Card #1 : Wily Coyotian
Edition: REWARD
Rarity: COMMON
Element: DEATH
Attack: Melee
Abilities: Phase
Wily Coyotian is a 2 mana card that we can expect to see a lot of in low mana battles. At level 1 the card is having 1 melee damage, 2 speed, 1 armor and 2 hp with no abilities. Later at level 6 and above, the card inherits the Phase ability and at the highest level the stats of the card is increased significantly as it's melee damage reaches 2, speed increases to 4, armor is 3 and hp i 6.
Card #2 : Will-o-Wisp
Edition: REWARD
Rarity: EPIC
Element: DEATH
Attack: N/A
Abilities:
Flying
Weaken
Silence
Blind
Will-o-Wisp is a very interesting support card that for 6 mana offers 4 speed and 9 hp combined with the abilities of Flying Weaken at level 1.
Later at level 4, the card gets it's third ability Silence and at the highest level it also has Blind as it's hp is 12 at this level.
My opinion on Soulbound Reward Cards?
Ever since the concept of soulbound reward cards was disclosed, I fall in love with the idea and having the option to unlock this cards to be tradable in future probably by burning some DEC becomes a great mechanism to burn DEC which is instrumental for the game's economy. This new change is rewarding the players who actually love to play the game which is also a step in the right direction to improve the new player experience in the game.
And additionally, these new reward cards will be introducing game changing meta for which I am very excited as a fan of the game.
How was your end of season rewards and did you manage to pull any new reward card yet? Let me know in the comments.

I only had 25 chests at the end of the season, but I even got 2 summoners, and 3 other cards. I am liking how this is going, but it has changed the meta and I am often losing to soulbound cards I don't yet have. The summoner Octavia will definitely come in handy in some guild brawls.
