FLYING FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE PANDO

The airport experience wasn't much different to before the pando. This is because, in England, we have returned to "normal", which means there were absolutely no signs of COVID precautions; social distancing, hand sanitising stations, etc. There were some left over signs here and there that were yet to be taken down, usually on some shop windows, or those hard printed on floors, but basically if fell into a coma in 2018 and woke up yesterday, you wouldn't have known there was a pando.

The boarding gate was where it all changed. Masks were required past the gate. I guess the logic was that we were exiting British soil, effectively, once having cleared emigration. Masks were also required throughout the flight. The exceptions were the usual; if you're exempt from wearing masks, or you're consuming food or drink.

If you'd been flying during this pando, then non of this is news to you. It's my first time ever since, so hey :)

I always pay a little extra for the exit seat, having such long legs, to give me more space. Sadly, I sat next to André the Giant's doppelgänger 🤣. Gone was the armrest. RIP horizontal space. I basically had to fold my hands and straighten my legs throughout the flight. I originally tried to claim my space, but it's not his fault he's built like an Avenger.

All in all, the fight wasn't too long, so the juxtaposition was tolerable. The actual flight itself was mainly smooth, with the exception of landing, which was pretty harsh. It was rainy and very windy so they pilot had to come in very hot, then throw the craft in reverse to slow it down so as not to overshoot the runway. Or something like that.

Happy to be here now. Talk to you folks later.

Peace & Love,

Adé
