Barefoot Shoes - I'm walking like a kid again
Barefoot Shoes π£
I'm really loving my new(ish) walking shoes. I got them on Amazon for not so much money (compared to the fancy versions). They are "barefoot" shoes with wide toe boxes. The idea is that they allow your feet to be feet, as designed by nature, and not artificially constricted and bound by the tight cages we've created for them called shoes. They're also quite soft and light weight, so don't add much weight to the feet, allowing for a more natural foot and ankle weight balance.
There were some bad reviews on Amazon, mainly related to their longevity, but to be honest, I think the fancy expensive ones are just as fragile. They're effectively fortified socks :)
I took them with me to the mountains but couldn't use them much because of the amount of snow still on the mountains. They are perfect for the frequent walks I do. They're so comfortable and I don't get sore feet after hours of walking. They also look kind of cool I think.
They're not for everyone though. Some people might experience sore calf muscles, especially if they run in these, due to the lack of the appropriate muscular balance caused by years of wearing shoes with heels and stiff soles. I spent most of my childhood walking barefoot, actually barefoot, so I think I have just the right muscles for this kind of natural walking, and it feels really good I must say.
Our feet are meant for natural grasslands. They are the perfect design for walking and even better for running. We have created unnatural environments for ourselves with all the concrete, tar and metallic surfaces we spend most of our times walking on these days so we do need shoes. It only makes sense to make shoes as close to not existing as possible wouldn't you say? π£

It is excellent that you take time to walk in nature and above all with comfortable and appropriate footwear.
I'm lucky to have some nature within easy reach from me.
