MY NYSC CAMPING DAYS.

The NYSC [ NIGERIAN YOUTH SERVICE CORPS ] scheme was created in a bid to reconstruct, reconcile and rebuild the country after the Nigerian Civil war. The unfortunate antecedents in our national history gave impetus to the establishment of the National Youth Service Corps by decree No.24 of 22nd May 1973 which stated that the NYSC is being established "with a view to the proper encouragement and development of common ties among the youths of Nigeria and the promotion of national unity".
My days in in nysc camp was a beautiful moment I will never forget.
I camped in Iseyin, A city located in the Nigerian state in oyo known as the pace setter state, It is approximately 100 km north of Ibadan.

MY FIRTS DAY IN OYO CAMP
my first day in oyo camp was really stressful, I travelled down from Lagos where I reside about 3 to 4 hours journey. I got to the camp tired and then we were told to get our Covid-19 test for the safety of other corp members, we have some corp members who had reached few days before I got there sonwe had to go in batches due to the numbers of youths who applied, people come from different parts of the country. Luckily I was texted positive and I was able to get few minutes later we had to do some registrations so we could get a bed space in the hostels that was built in camp. finally I was given the AJUMOBI HOSTEL 1, I had my rest and settle a bit. After some minute I had my bath outside because it was crowded and the bathroom was not really good enough for me that’s was how the day ended.

FRIENDS I MET IN CAMP:

I’m not really an extrovert and I don’t know how to make friends but somehow it happened. I made my bunk mate my friend and he knew few people in camp from his school, I also met one of my friend from same school so we all became camp friends and always chill together at a market in camp called MAMMI market where we buy all we need and have fun also.
I always bought my lunch and dinner at the MAAMI market because I don’t like the kind of food that was served in camp and i didn’t go for the food through out my stay in camp.

I remember in camp then there was about 3 girls who are obsessed with me and there’s nothing I could do about it because I am in a relationship as at then it was really uncomfortable for me. They always want to be around me but i had to friend zone them then pretend like I don’t really know what they want because I don’t like cheating I had to keep it simple and plain but they don’t even want to see it. I even told them I had a relationship but they still stayed I don’t even know what to do I was really not comfortable but later on after camp I redeployed back to Lagos and we were separated but I still keep in touch with everyone.

The man o war drill was really stressful it was like I’m going to be a soldier the next day lol we went through few trainings lead by the man ‘o’ war and few soldiers I got really weak and tired after the drill until the next morning I wan have pains all over my body it was really a stressful day. I had to go to the camp clinic for drugs the next day before I could even do other things.
I remembered in camp we had to match and do some training it’s wasn’t easy.
I had to join the sanitary department because I think that’s the most easiest department of all we just make sure the places and surroundings are clean and safe.

The carnival is like a festival day where all tribes come together with their cultural dressing showing us what the attire represents, each tribe comes out dancing and singing their cultural songs and the likes it was fun too it was one of the best days I had in camp.

That was how my camp days went it was really fun i was able to make friends from different states it was an experience I can never forget.

I hope you enjoyed doing this!!!…Thank you for your time !.
