THE UNEXPECTED HAPPENED.

Happy new month to everyone member of hive learners community. This is the first day of December and as usual when we hear the name December, it comes with good aroma. We are all expectant. We are specially waiting with joy for something good to happen to our lives and family. This is just me. December gives me joy. It brings good luck. I can't wait to devour a whole chicken 🐔 at a spot. Hahaha 😄. I don't know whether you feel the same way?

Our topic for the day is - The last contest. What was the last physical contest you completed in?

During my NCE program in the College of Education Akwanga, Nasarawa state. The hod of our department decided the whole department into ten group and gave us each a topic to go and work then come back to teach the whole students. Though it was not called a contest but that was what it is. I said so because every group did their best to come with the best result. Fortunately for me my group was asked to work on the differences between Igbo language vowel and English language vowel. These two are my area of my concentration. I know English language vowel very well back then. But for Igbo language vowel I was still struggling to understand it because that was our first year in school. The department asked me to represent them so I went home and did research and got my best ready for the next class. The HOD already told us that my group will be the first to present. So at that time every one was waiting to see what will happen and they also want to learn from our mistakes. Maybe they were hoping that I will not do well so that they will learn when the lecturer is correcting my group.

Fortunately I came out that day. Still with stage fright. I managed to gather my self together and stood in front of the class to represent my group. I don't also love writing on the board because I don't have a good hand writing, but I was compelled to write on the board because of the chart that will be drawn. I tried not to show that I was afraid to stand in front of the lecturer to talk. I delivered my lecture and the next group followed. We continued like that till the last day and our HOD said that there was no group that tried like my own group. As a result we took first position and we were always used to give example each time he comes for lecture. Though in this type of competition, no price is given but you will get a very good award. It means that the lecturer will know you from that day on. You can also go to the office of that lecturer to ask for anything you think that the class needs.

LESSONS FROM THE CONTEST
I learnt alot from that contest. Maybe we should just list a few bellow:
Team work
Self confidence
The power of research
Don't look down on anyone.
As long as there is a problem, there must be a solution.
Hard work pays
This post was inspired by the hive learners community contest for week 90, edition 3 - The last contest.

That was a big one
Must have been exciting teaching everyone and sewing the lectures nod their heads in commendation. That boosts confidence.
You did good

I love your courage ma'am, we may never know what we are capable of doing until we let go of our fear and embrace what is before us. Standing to teach in front of a crowd is not easy, I know how it feels. I am happy your group won at the end. It is worth it.

Thank God you were able to pull yourself together to deliver for your group. I am sure that the fact that you have all done a good job on the assignment also gave you the confidence to present well. Well done ma’am

Being in front of an audience is not easy, a stage can really be scary, but it was great to see that you gained greater self-confidence and teamwork, and consequently achieved greater professional development
