My mother's cup collection
My mother loved to collect certain objects, especially books, photos, and little things related to Poland, her native country.
But, without a doubt, her most prized collection was her cups. He would place them in a corner of the living room, where we would gather to watch television.
Since I was born, that place already had some cups and over time he added others. When his years and his health problems did not allow him to dust and clean his collection, I took care of cleaning and dusting them, with the caution they deserve.
Today I want to share with you his beautiful collection.
I have spent some time to see them in detail, and to know the countries where they were manufactured.
Here you have the origin:
- Japan
- China
- Poland
- Czechoslovakia
- Germany
- Austria
- France
- Spain
Precisely, the initial photo of this post, is a Japanese Tea Cup Set. It gives us a nice relief work, where the gray matte colors contrast with the gold and those faded blue and pink polka dots.
A set of miniature cups:
I show you a beautiful, fine and delicate set. It brings painted on its base material, a world famous place, with a blue typography, which shouts to all: I love you Paris. The image of the Eiffel Tower, also known as the Iron Lady. It is the main symbol of the capital of France and was built in 1889.
A limited edition:
This attractive cup and saucer was manufactured in Bavaria, a state located in the south of Germany. It features an embossed design, where gold contrasts with dark blue, to proudly confer the excellence of its creator.
This is a limited edition model with its serial number. Its details on the bottom are so illegible to my sight, that I had to photograph it with a Digital Microscope to know its provenance.
Other designs:
Cups can be constructed of different materials: glass, clay, bamboo, earthenware, and porcelain. A material that is very popular because of its clean white color, low porosity, hardness, and can withstand the high temperatures of a coffee.
As domestic tableware, cups have always been used in family and social gatherings. They are symbols of refinement, well-being and luxury. They can be purchased from low prices to three-zero figures.
Since 17th Century, in England, the influence of the ritual of drinking tea in the evening hours has been carried over. It is not exact at 5 p.m., as it can be in a time range between 4 and 7 p.m.
In China the tea is drunk at all hours. People go to work, taking their cups with them, to repeat several times a day, the custom of adding boiling water to the tea leaves.
There are cups that reflect a meticulous work in their designs; with colors and textures that attract the most demanding retinas.
We can find them with expressions of art, for example: famous painters, poets, etc.
To finish the post, I do it with this photo, so you can see the corner of that part of the living room of my house. It has three divisions with crystals where her cups rest.
Nothing better than to immortalize in the blockchain, and through this community, my words and photos of the cups that my mother collected with so much love and dedication.
Wherever she is, she will know that this writing was made with that passion, like the ones she dedicated to her precious objects throughout her years.
Thanks to those who read me. I wish you a nice Tuesday.

Have a great day
Hello, Thank you for writing. Yes it is, it is a beautiful collection and with a story that makes it special. Regards
I was pleasantly surprised and amazed by your mum's collection, I love the crockery, it looks beautiful, especially the Parisian ones.
She took great care of her collection, now it's my turn, and that's why I wanted to share it on the blockchain. It is very nice. Thank you
The miniature cups are my favourite here, super tiny and cute 😇
Hi @mipiano. That miniature set is also my favorite. Something that makes a difference to the rest, and that took for its manufacture a more detailed work.
The other mug I like, is the Bavaria one, with gold embossing alternating with blue. My regards
Ah, how I love this. They are all different.
Good evening @nanixxx. Cups with different designs and stories that gladdened my mother's soul and now mine.
It was nice to take them in my hands yesterday, take pictures of them and give them eternal life on the blockchain. Greetings
