Los consentidos / The spoiled

Saludos, hermanos de @mcgicares. En esta oportunidad voy a compartir con ustedes una prédica que nos hace meditar en la forma cómo el Señor consiente a su pueblo, y en especial a sus discípulos.

Juan 15: 13 No hay un amor más grande que el dar la vida por los amigos. 14 Ustedes son mis amigos si hacen lo que yo les mando. 15 Ya no los llamo esclavos, porque el amo no confía sus asuntos a los esclavos. Ustedes ahora son mis amigos, porque les he contado todo lo que el Padre me dijo. 16 Ustedes no me eligieron a mí, yo los elegí a ustedes. Les encargué que vayan y produzcan frutos duraderos, así el Padre les dará todo lo que pidan en mi nombre. 17 Este es mi mandato: ámense unos a otros.

Como seres humanos, siempre tenemos nuestros consentidos, incluso entre los hijos, y no es que el padre dice: Este será mi consentido, sino que sucede de una manera tan sutil que el padre se niega a reconocer, pero los que están fuera de la relación pueden notar su preferencia hacia un hijo, por encima de los demás.

Tener un consentido no es discriminatorio ni ofensivo, sino que es algo propio de cada relación. La Real Academia Española define al verbo consentir como: Mimar [a alguien] o ser muy indulgente [con él].

En la palabra del Señor vemos el concepto de consentir de manera clara, y es que el Señor premia al obediente y también perdona las faltas del que se arrepiente, por lo que debemos tener claro que cuando el Señor consiente a alguien no es para hacer sentir mal a los demás, sino para motivarlos.

Hay muchos ejemplos en la Escritura sobre cómo el Señor mima a los suyos, los exalta delante de los demás, los hace prosperar y les perdona las faltas, pero es a esos mismos a quien les exige mayor obediencia y santidad, porque así como los hace crecer para exhibirlos delante de los demás, también los usa como ejemplo de su disciplina, justicia y santidad, por lo que les da reprimendas públicas para que los demás no crean que es un Juez injusto que hace caso omiso a la conducta de los suyos. Revisemos varios pasajes donde nos habla al respecto:

Lucas 12: 47 »Un siervo que sabe lo que su amo quiere, pero no se prepara ni cumple las instrucciones, será severamente castigado. 48 Pero alguien que no lo sabe y hace algo malo, será castigado levemente. Alguien a quien se le ha dado mucho, mucho se le pedirá a cambio; y alguien a quien se le ha confiado mucho, aún más se le exigirá.

Comencemos por el primer verso: Un siervo negligente o rebelde no recibe sino azotes, porque al no trabajar, aun sabiendo lo que debe hacer, no tiene pago que recibir ni mucho menos debe ser premiado, sino que es reprendido públicamente para que los demás vean que el Señor corrige a quien ama. Ahora bien, muchas veces somos tan rebeldes o negligentes, que se nos puede venir la casa encima y no corregimos nuestra actitud, tal como lo enseña el siguiente pasaje:

Proverbios 6: 6 Tú, holgazán, aprende una lección de las hormigas. ¡Aprende de lo que hacen y hazte sabio! 7 A pesar de que no tienen príncipe ni gobernador ni líder que las haga trabajar, 8 se esfuerzan todo el verano, juntando alimento para el invierno. 9 Pero tú, holgazán, ¿hasta cuándo seguirás durmiendo? ¿Cuándo despertarás? 10 Un rato más de sueño, una breve siesta, un pequeño descanso cruzado de brazos. 11 Entonces la pobreza te asaltará como un bandido; la escasez te atacará como un ladrón armado.

En el pasaje anterior se reprende al flojo o perezoso, pudiendo llevar esa enseñanza al área espiritual, porque sabiendo que debemos orar, leer la palabra del Señor, congregarnos, predicar, hacer vigilias y ayunar periódicamente, no lo hacemos. También tenemos en nuestras obligaciones espirituales el visitar y ayudar a los necesitados, lo que muchas veces obviamos, sobre todo cuando nos hacemos religiosos, ocupándonos tanto de la santidad que nos ocultamos debajo de la cama para no alumbrar en un mundo lleno de oscuridad.

En el verso 48 del capítulo 12 del evangelio de Lucas, vemos que nadie se escapa de la reprensión, pero el Señor dice que castiga levemente al ignorante y así ha sido con nosotros, porque antes no teníamos idea de la palabra del Señor, más allá de lo que podíamos escuchar de otras personas, incluso ahora que nos falta por conocer muchas cosas, el Señor es paciente y misericordioso, no dejando de enseñarnos sino que no es tan severo como con aquel que sabiendo hacer lo bueno, no lo hace. Revisemos el siguiente pasaje:

Santiago 4: 17 Recuerden que es pecado saber lo que se debe hacer y luego no hacerlo.

Volvemos al caso de los que se ocupan tanto de la santidad que se olvidan del servicio, haciendo tal como aquel que escondió la mina por temor a perderla, siendo reprendido por el dueño de las minas. Revisemos el siguiente pasaje:

Lucas 19: 20 »Pero el tercer siervo trajo solo la suma original y dijo: “Amo, escondí su dinero para protegerlo. 21 Tenía miedo, porque usted es un hombre muy difícil de tratar, que toma lo que no es suyo y cosecha lo que no sembró”. 22 »“¡Siervo perverso!—dijo el rey a gritos—. Tus propias palabras te condenan. Si sabías que era un hombre duro que tomo lo que no es mío y cosecho lo que no sembré, 23 ¿por qué no depositaste mi dinero en el banco? Al menos hubiera podido obtener algún interés de él”. 24 »Luego, dirigiéndose a los otros que estaban cerca, el rey ordenó: “Quiten el dinero de este siervo y dénselo al que tiene cinco kilos”. 25 »“Pero amo—le dijeron—, él ya tiene cinco kilos”.
26 »“Sí—respondió el rey—, y a los que usan bien lo que se les da, se les dará aún más; pero a los que no hacen nada se les quitará aun lo poco que tienen. 27 En cuanto a esos enemigos míos que no querían que yo fuera su rey, tráiganlos y ejecútenlos aquí mismo en mi presencia”».

Así vemos que cuando nos ocupamos tanto por no perder la salvación, solo terminamos demostrando que nunca la tuvimos, porque quien ha conocido al Señor le obedece, no por temor sino por amor, por agradecimiento y por el deseo que las demás personas conozcan lo mejor que hay en la vida: El amor del Creador. Recordemos que el desobediente también es un pecador y que el nacido de nuevo no es conocido por practicar el pecado, tal como nos enseña el siguiente pasaje:

1 Juan 5: 18 Sabemos que los hijos de Dios no se caracterizan por practicar el pecado, porque el Hijo de Dios los mantiene protegidos, y el maligno no puede tocarlos.

Este es otro de los beneficios de ser obedientes, porque al obedecer al Señor demostramos que es nuestro Padre, Rey y Dios; Padre porque le honramos, Rey porque le obedecemos y Dios porque le rendimos culto, y esto no lo hacemos con otras personas sino que es una conducta exclusiva para Él, tal como se evidencia al llevar una vida de adoración, es decir, nuestras buenas obras no las guardamos para llevarlas al templo sino que las exibimos delante de la creación para que todos sepan a quien servimos.

El Señor no deja esta conducta sin responder sino que la exhibe como su obra delante de la creación, tal como sucede en los siguientes casos:

  1. Da la cara por sus amigos, tal como lo hizo con Abraham, Isaac, y Jacob.
  2. Los exalta delante del pueblo como hizo con Josué;
  3. Les revela su palabra como hizo con los apóstoles;
  4. Come con ellos como hizo con Abraham;
  5. Les confirma su palabra como hizo con Gedeón;
  6. Los salva del fuego enemigo como hizo con los amigos de Daniel;
  7. Cierra la boca de los leones como hizo con Daniel;
  8. Los libra de más serpientes como hizo con Pablo;
  9. Los envía a cuidar a su pueblo como hizo con Pedro;
  10. Los busca en el desierto como hizo con Moisés;
  11. Los hace resplandecer como hizo a Moisés;
  12. Usa a quien sea para cubrir sus necesidades como hizo con Elías;
  13. Manda a su ejército a protegerlo como hizo con Eliseo.

Hay muchos que dicen ser los consentidos del Señor porque les va bien, según su criterio, pero lo cierto es que no tienen idea lo que es ser amigo del Señor porque no conocen su voluntad. Muchos prosperan porque son diligentes con lo que hacen, pero eso no quiere decir que sean pueblo del Señor, menos aún sus consentidos, y el mejor ejemplo lo vemos en Josué, a quién el Señor honró delante de todo el pueblo, porque él ya había honrado al Señor delante de todo el pueblo.

Si no has hecho al Señor tu consentido, no creas que eres un consentido suyo, más bien tiendes a ser un desechado porque no lo has puesto en el primer lugar de tu vida. El Señor puede darte la salvación en el último momento de tu vida, pero eso no quita que hayas tenido una vida incompleta por no haber vivido con la gloria del Señor manifestándose en ti y a través de ti.

Cierro con esto: El Señor honra a los que le honran y les descubre sus deseos a sus amigos.

Greetings, brothers and sisters of @mcgicares. In this opportunity I am going to share with you a sermon that makes us meditate on the way the Lord pampers his people, and especially his disciples.

John 15: 13 There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command you. 15 I no longer call you slaves, for the master does not entrust his affairs to slaves. You are my friends now, because I have told you everything the Father told me. 16 You did not choose me; I chose you. I commanded you to go and bring forth lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. 17 This is my commandment: love one another.

As human beings, we always have our spoiled ones, even among children, and it is not that the parent says: This will be my spoiled one, but it happens in such a subtle way that the parent refuses to acknowledge, but those outside the relationship can notice his preference for one child over the others.

To have a consentido is not discriminatory or offensive, but is something specific to each relationship. The Real Academia Española defines the verb consentir as: To pamper [someone] or to be very indulgent [with him].

In the word of the Lord we see the concept of spoil in a clear way, and it is that the Lord rewards the obedient and also forgives the faults of the one who repents, so we must be clear that when the Lord spoils someone it is not to make others feel bad, but to motivate them.

There are many examples in Scripture of how the Lord pampers his own, exalts them before others, makes them prosper and forgives their faults, but it is to those same ones that he demands greater obedience and holiness, because just as he makes them grow to exhibit them before others, he also uses them as an example of his discipline, justice and holiness, so he gives them public reprimands so that others do not believe that he is an unjust Judge who ignores the conduct of his own. Let us review several passages where he speaks to us in this regard:

Luke 12: 47 "A servant who knows what his master wants, but does not prepare himself or carry out the instructions, will be severely punished. 48 But someone who does not know and does something wrong will be punished lightly. Someone to whom much has been given, much will be asked in return; and someone to whom much has been entrusted, even more will be demanded.

Let us begin with the first verse: A negligent or rebellious servant receives nothing but scourgings, because by not working, even though he knows what he ought to do, he has no payment to receive, much less is he to be rewarded, but is publicly reprimanded so that others may see that the Lord corrects the one he loves. Now, many times we are so rebellious or negligent, that the house can come down on us and we do not correct our attitude, as the following passage teaches:

Proverbs 6: 6 You sluggard, learn a lesson from the ants; learn from what they do and become wise! 7 Though they have no prince or ruler or leader to make them work, 8 they toil all summer, gathering food for the winter. 9 But you, idler, how long will you sleep on, when will you wake up? 10 A little more sleep, a short nap, a little rest with your arms folded. 11 Then poverty will assail you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.

In the above passage the lazy or sluggard is reprimanded, being able to take that teaching to the spiritual area, because knowing that we should pray, read the word of the Lord, congregate, preach, keep vigils and fast periodically, we do not do it. We also have in our spiritual obligations to visit and help the needy, which many times we ignore, especially when we become religious, occupying ourselves so much with holiness that we hide under the bed so as not to shine in a world full of darkness.

In verse 48 of chapter 12 of Luke's gospel, we see that no one escapes rebuke, but the Lord says that he lightly punishes the ignorant and so it has been with us, because before we had no idea of the word of the Lord, beyond what we could hear from other people, even now that we lack to know many things, the Lord is patient and merciful, not failing to teach us but is not as severe as with him who knowing to do good, does not do it. Let us review the following passage:

James 4: 17 Remember that it is sin to know what ought to be done and then not to do it.

We return to the case of those who are so occupied with holiness that they forget the service, doing such as the one who hid the mine for fear of losing it, being reproved by the owner of the mines. Let us review the following passage:

Luke 19: 20 "But the third servant brought only the original sum and said, "Master, I hid your money to protect it. 21 I was afraid, for you are a very hard man to deal with, taking what is not yours and reaping what you did not sow." 22 ""You wicked servant!" the king cried out. Your own words condemn you. If you knew I was a hard man who takes what is not mine and reaps what I did not sow, 23 why didn't you deposit my money in the bank? At least I could have gotten some interest from it." 24 "Then, turning to the others standing nearby, the king commanded, "Take the money from this servant and give it to the one who has five kilos." 25 "But, master," they said, "he already has five pounds.
26 "Yes," said the king, "and those who use well what is given them will be given even more; but those who do nothing will have even the little they have taken away from them. 27 As for those enemies of mine who did not want me to be their king, bring them in and execute them right here in my presence.""

Thus we see that when we are so concerned about not losing our salvation, we only end up proving that we never had it, because he who has known the Lord obeys Him, not out of fear but out of love, gratitude and the desire that other people know the best there is in life: the love of the Creator. Let us remember that the disobedient is also a sinner and that the born again is not known for practicing sin, as the following passage teaches us:

1 John 5: 18 We know that the children of God are not characterized by practicing sin, because the Son of God keeps them protected, and the evil one cannot touch them.

This is another of the benefits of being obedient, because by obeying the Lord we demonstrate that He is our Father, King and God; Father because we honor Him, King because we obey Him and God because we worship Him, and this we do not do with other people but it is an exclusive conduct for Him, as evidenced by leading a life of worship, that is, we do not keep our good works to take them to the temple but we exhibit them before the creation so that everyone knows whom we serve.

The Lord does not leave this conduct unanswered but exhibits it as his work before creation, as happens in the following cases:

  1. He stands up for his friends, as he did for Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
  2. He exalts them before the people as he did with Joshua;
  3. He reveals his word to them as he did to the apostles;
  4. He eats with them as he did with Abraham;
  5. He confirms his word to them as he did to Gideon; 6) He saves them from the fire of the enemy as he did to Joshua;
  6. He saves them from the enemy's fire as He did with Daniel's friends;
  7. Closes the mouths of lions as he did with Daniel;
  8. Delivers them from more serpents as he did with Paul;
  9. Sends them to take care of his people as he did with Peter; 10) Seeks them out in the wilderness as he did with Peter;
  10. He searches for them in the wilderness as he did for Moses;
  11. He makes them shine as he did Moses;
  12. He uses whomever he can to meet their needs as he did with Elijah;
  13. He sends his army to protect him as he did Elisha.

There are many who claim to be the spoiled of the Lord because they are doing well, according to their criteria, but the truth is that they have no idea what it is to be the friend of the Lord because they do not know his will. Many prosper because they are diligent in what they do, but that does not mean that they are the Lord's people, much less his pampered ones, and the best example is Joshua, whom the Lord honored before all the people, because he had already honored the Lord before all the people.

If you have not made the Lord your favorite, do not think that you are his favorite, rather you tend to be a reject because you have not put him in the first place in your life. The Lord may give you salvation at the last moment of your life, but that does not take away the fact that you have had an incomplete life because you have not lived with the glory of the Lord manifesting in you and through you.

I close with this: The Lord honors those who honor him and reveals his desires to his friends.
