Saludos amigos de @foodies. En esta ocasión voy a compartir con ustedes un rico plato que preparamos junto a los niños y adolescentes de la iglesia. Se trata de arenques fritos, con ensalada y arepas asadas. Espero sea de su gusto.

Greetings friends of @foodies. This time I am going to share with you a delicious dish that we prepared with the children and teenagers of the church. It is fried herring, with salad and grilled arepas. I hope you like it.

Primeramente, debo decir que, ante la grave situación económica que atraviesa Venezuela, el arenque se ha convertido en una fuente de proteínas frecuente en muchos hogares, por lo que se hace necesario buscar la forma de presentarlo de manera agradable a los niños. Miren cómo lo hicimos esta vez:

First of all, I must say that, given the serious economic situation that Venezuela is going through, herring has become a frequent source of protein in many homes, so it is necessary to find a way to present it in a pleasant way to the children. Check out how we did it this time:

Ingredientes (Ingredients):

3 kilogramos de arenques (3 kilograms of herring);
1 kilogramo de harina de maíz (1 kilogram of corn flour);
1 kilogramo de tomates (1 kilogram of tomatoes);
2 cebollas (2 onions);
300 gramos de lechuga (300 grams of lettuce);
500 gramos de limones (500 grams of lemons);
1 taza de aceite vegetal (1 cup vegetable oil); y (and)
Sal al gusto (Salt to taste).

Preparación (Preparation):

Lo primero que hacemos es preparar el pescado, quitándole las escamas, las cabezas y las vísceras, colocándolos luego en un envase y les rociamos un poco de sal para darles gusto.

The first thing we do is prepare the fish, removing the scales, heads and guts, then place them in a container and sprinkle a little salt to give them taste.

Seguidamente, ponemos a calentar el aceite en una sartén, y mientras tanto, amasamos la harina de maíz en un envase con agua y sal.

Next, we heat the oil in a frying pan, and in the meantime, we knead the corn flour in a container with water and salt.

Cuando el aceite esté hirviendo, se van colocando los pescados en la sartén para que se vayan friendo, y mientras tanto, vamos picando los tomates, la lechuga y las cebollas para la ensalada.

When the oil is boiling, place the fish in the pan to fry, and meanwhile, chop the tomatoes, lettuce and onions for the salad.

En un aripo o budare, colocamos las arepas para que se vayan asando, mientras freímos el pescado.

In an aripo or budare, we place the arepas to roast while we fry the fish.

Cuando los pescados y la ensalada estén listos, colocamos la ensalada en una bandeja para luego colocar los pescados sobre ella, de manera decorativa. Cortamos los limones en rodajas finas, para que sean exprimidas con facilidad, y las colocamos alrededor del pescado y la ensalada.

When the fish and the salad are ready, place the salad on a tray and then place the fish on it, in a decorative way. Cut the lemons into thin slices, so that they can be squeezed easily, and place them around the fish and the salad.

En otra bandeja, colocamos las arepas listas para servir, y una vez esté listo todo, nos sentamos a la mesa a disfrutar de este sabroso y alimenticio plato.

In another tray, we place the arepas ready to serve, and once everything is ready, we sit at the table to enjoy this tasty and nutritious dish.

Con esta cantidad de ingredientes, servimos 20 platos y disfrutamos juntos en la mesa.

With this amount of ingredients, we serve 20 plates and enjoy together at the table.
