Hive is social media. Kind of.
I feel there should be a block button. On steemit in 2019, A user harassed me because I did not know what witnesses are
I am neurodivergent and have learning difficulties
when Weku (steemit clone before Steemit/Hive added the communites)
I posted a video about a post getting 100 credits
a guy asked me about witnesses. how many did Weku have
I didn't know what Ws are nor if the platform had any
then he asked about my wallets and stuff so of course I got confused
then he called me the R slur. when I held him accountable, he basically admits he bullies disabled/neurodiverse people. if they "deserve it"
I made a video when it happened, I lost it.
Then called me entitled for NOT wanting to be bullied for not knowing something when he can just.. idk link a fucking video/blog post about what he was talking about
I wold have avoided all of this if there was a block button
MUTING DOES NOT WORK. It doesn't work if the person can still see your content
maybe improve the mute button so when you mute someone, the other person gets a loading error or something
even if bullying isn't a problem, blocking spam comments, bot comments commeting phishing links etc
it can be a plan B if your HP isn't strong enough to hide their comments with a down vote

I think this should be handled by front ends. A bully could make another account if you make it impossible to reply to your content. My understanding of the mute button is that it hide the muted accounts from showing up on your feed. I have not used the feature myself.
Instagram has a feature if you block someone, they ask you if you wanna block their other accounts or accounts they may make in the future.
even if bullying isn't an issue, you could have spam comments, not enough HP to hide their content with a downvote to lower their karma (if karma is low enough, their comments are hidden by default)
I am thinking of a plan b for people whose HP isn't strong enough to handle it with enough downvotes
Have you tried using Hive Watchers to see if they would be of any help?
I am keeping my distance from HW (if that's even possible) after they assumed I had fake accounts/multiple accounts upvoting my posts (when I don't, this is my only account)

I have seen Hive Watchers go after many good and honest creators unnecessarily. There are many authors who have quit because of badly utilized downvoting. I can understand your concern.
and their piss poor communication. I had to find Adm via my downvote list.
, and saw pages of people angry they were downvoted and had no idea what they did wrong. If you're downvoting people, not leaving a message as to what they did wrong, they're gonna call you a bully downvoted, they're gonna conclude you're abusing your power.

There is a miscommunication here. when you said you want a block button after reading my post, I cannot tell if after seeing this poll, now you understand why Hive needs a block button, to also block scammers etc
I don't mean blocking you, I mean blocking people like the guy who harassed me on Steemit because I didn't know about witnesses.
my "what" was asking you to please explain further to avoid a misunderstanding.
The Mute button does that
I've tried muting people but they still can comment on my posts somehow. so I thought it was just so I would not be notified of their activities on my posts.
I muted a follower who harassed me last summer, but they were still able to comment.
Unless there is another step I have to take that I am probably missing.

i don't know about you, I don't wanna be harassed for simply not knowing something
at least we should advocate to improve the mute feature. it doesn't work if the person I wanna mute can still see my content
