Wednesday Walk - Flowers in the Forest

We found some flowers in the forest for this #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay

I'm not sure what these blue flowers are but they were everywhere in the forest.

The pollinators are quite happy about this. I saw a few of these swallowtails feasting on the acres of flowers.

Lots of bees are out too. I think this year will be quite a buggy year especially with the cicadas coming soon.

The whole forest floor was covered in these flowers as well as some white and red trilliums.

I walked a bit through the forest to be surrounded by all the flowers... Unfortunately later on I found a tick on me, terrible critters always ruin a good forest walk.

Here is an interesting burnt log with turkeytail growing out of it. I'm hoping this thing will get completely covered with turkeytail.

Wood ducks are being shy out here. Right when they catch a glimpse of you they run off to the far distance of the lake.

Meanwhile at the more open lake the geese are not shy at all.

There are two families of geese that are here and one of them actually hatched their eggs on my neighbor's balcony.

It was funny watching a few of my neighbors trying to heard these guys to the lake and avoiding the bites of the parents. Silly geese will lay eggs anywhere. Now I suspect these guys will grow up and start a nest on the balcony again.

Nice carpet of flowers. My oldest son is still scared of geese I think. Due to an unfortunate attempt to feed one when he was about the same height as the goose.

Yeah that same thing happened with my sister, bit by a white goose. Fortunately she was taller than the goose. People don't feed them here so they are generally tame but don't attack for food. And they love nesting on our condo building, womp.

How are you dear friend @sketch.and.jam
What a beautiful place you have chosen for this Wednesday walk, I love how those blue flowers attract so many beautiful insects.

The trick is avoiding the ticks hiding in the weeds. I got distracted by the butterflies and a tick latched on to me.

OMG are they just soooo freakin adorable!

Oh I'd just be sitting there all day trying to cuddle them!

Great shots too!

So far there are ten at the lake. I think both families hatched them on my condo building's planters. Sadly my poor neighbor's balcony got covered in goose poop lol.

Well hopefully they stay at the lake and poop where they are supposed too!

It's great to have an abundant bird life around, but that's the only problem with them- the pooping in bad spots (of and the noise at 7am..🤣..🙄.)

Fortunately our building just gets ducks and geese nesting. The neighboring building is getting holes pecked into sides of it by starlings.

Ow wow. Starlings are actually that destructive- on buildings and all! who would've thought.

Lucky you have just got the ducks and the geese then!
